So yesterday I took a little trip to a magical place called Barry Island...Here is the full account of my day.
I arrived at around 9:30 and knew that filming was somewhere on Barry island so I went in search for the pink signs. I found them really easily and followed them. After a short distance I arrived at the filming location so I parked up and walked over to start watching. First person I saw was Damien. He was in the blue leather coat with some grey suit like trousers. He was in the middle of filming a scene so I stood and watched for a while. While I was watching the lovely Ryan (@tmxghost) walked past and spotted me and said “Oh hiya trouble! Are you ok?” Bless him J A little while later I was joined by Dorina and Mikey and we watched filming for a while. Obviously I can’t say what the scene was about.
Once they had finished filming that scene they needed to move down the road. Damien walked towards us and came straight over. He said “Oh hi Su! Sorry I keep missing you its lovely to see you finally” *thud* He asked if I was staying or just a flying visit. I said I was there for the day and asked for a pic. He stood next to me and I grabbed him and said “come on now damo don’t be shy come here!” PMSL! We had a pic then he said “right ive got to go, but don’t worry there will be plenty more where that came from” I said “REALLY?! Wow don't excite me like that” haha! I was clearly feeling over confident!
So after that we watched some more filming for quite a while. It was all in the same location but just moved around the street and stuff. Very exciting filming by the way series 5 is going to be the best yet! So at 1pm the director (mark hedges) called lunch. Damien came up to speak to us again before he left. There were a few more people watching by this point so he had pics with them and a group pic with us all. Then Ryan dragged him away for lunch. Dorina, mikey and I went for some lunch.
We came back and filming continued! The filming in the afternoon was absolutely amazing! Then at about 4pm Damien just shouted over see you later and left. We thought that was it but had heard Kate and Michael were at the unit base so thought we would go on the hunt for them. As we were leaving and walking up the road I spotted Michael walking towards us! I waved at him and asked if I could say hello quickly. He said “Aw yeh of course! Come here and give me a hug!” He is SO lovely by the way. Squished me so tight! Lovely man J. He told us he was there for filming with Kate. We walked up to where the crew and Kate were and then Damien pulled back up in his car. He got out and said hello to us again. Then the crew were doing some filming without the main cast. All 3 were just stood with us, stood around chatting and being silly.
At one point while they weren’t filming they were all stood together. By this point we had been joined by Kath. I said I should ask for a pic with all 3 of them. I was nervous but Kath encouraged me so I went and asked! They were just so kind and said of course you can! Michael asked where I wanted to stand so I stood between Kate and Michael (didn’t want to seem to keen on damo, treat em mean and all that) Kate was chatting to me and we somehow got onto my tattoo and they all wanted to see it! So I showed them, I think Michael was most impressed. Damien was asking if it was sore when I got it done, how long it took etc. Then the crew asked us to move out of shot and Damien came and sat next to us on the wall. We were chatting about the days filming and how exciting it had been! Damien was telling us how he felt about the day and stuff; he was really relaxed and chatty by this point.
So after about 10 minutes all 3 were called away and shot their last scene. They finished at around 6:45. Before they left they all came over to say goodbye to us. Michael hugged Kath and then went to hug me but I noticed Damien was walking away. I said “Oh no hold on Michael Damien’s going and I need a hug!” He said “oi I want a hug first!” and grabbed me! Lol! So after I went over to Damien and had a lovely long squishy hug *sigh* I said “thanks for talking to me today it’s been so lovely to see you” he said “aw thanks for coming Su it was really nice to see you again, you should come down again in a couple of weeks and watch some more filming?” I said ok I would try and as he was leaving he said “thanks again Su hope to see you again soon” *thud*
Kate gave me a hug after and I told her it was lovely to see her. She is very sweet and lovely but a little bit shy. She was very sweet and said thanks for coming then they all left.
So that’s it! Sorry for the longest post ever but it was just such an epic day I needed to share every detail!

Su!!!!!! first of all......... OMG!!! what am incredible, amazing, once in a life time special experience ! a day of making wonderful memories, I am so happy you have had it and thank you for sharing your day, it made me feel warm and happy inside to read about it.
And wow..just wow being able to be up that close to watch the filming and talking to and hugging Mr Molony and Michael and Kate! They all sound really lovely and friendly, especially Damiens' words to you about the tattoo and coming again. I bet that moment on the wall was surreal and mindblowing, well done you for not collapsing in a heap on the ground!
The other BH blog peeps you met up with there sound lovely too, I hope you all had a great time having out with each other as well. It has been wonderful reading about the fans who have met up with Damien and the others and seeing all the photos on Twitter. I am really grateful to you all for sharing with the rest of us who will not have the privilege, and to Damien, Michael, Kate and the crew (especially Ryan) for making dreams come true!
Ok i missed a part! Mikey has just reminded me that when i showed them my tattoo micheal was reading it and did it as an impression of hal! Plus we read the last line together "we all go back to being the monsters we truly are!" pmsl!! :D x

omg wait i forgot something else! Kath had her box set and got damien to sign it....he said to me "When we did that photo shoot i was so nervous. It was the first photo shoot i had ever done and i went in and they said, ok look like a vampire. We hadnt even started filming so i had no idea what to do. I did about 30 poses in the end and they just picked theyre favourite." :D xx

This will be my first post, forgive me if i sound like a prat ! And feel free to slap me if i get annoying ! This is my 5th year watching TV programmes being filmed in Wales, including series 3 & 4 of BH and now s5. Others include TW, DW, SJA and Gavin & Stacey. The BH cast, crew and all the fans i've met along the way are extremly friendly and huggable, including the odd miserable one ;) Can't praise them enough. Have made some great friends incl Dorina, Jo, Deb, and Bryony and now made a few new ones Michael and Sue, great post by the way :D

Loved reading about your lovely experience and living vicariously through it :) Glad to hear that he is still that lovely lad that i was lucky enough to meet way back in April. I hope he does theatre and comes back to Newcastle soon... i think that would be the only opportunity i'd get to meet him again but have loved reading about this here, again Su, thanks so much for sharing. Have you come down off cloud nine yet? ;)

Lisa and Su, funny someone asked me on twitter the other day if Damien would be doing other stuff after this current BH filming and I was thinking about more theatre!

It makes me sad to think that in 2 months time he'll be job hunting. I so hope he has lots of auditions and/or something lined up when filming BH finishes. I would love him to do more reading or with that lovely voice do voice-overs or audio books - whatever accent he uses!

*whispers* Have to say I did not like that photoshoot at all. He does not look like the Hal we know and love at all. He looks like that other Irish actor Adain Gillan (think I've spelt that wrong) who was in The Wire.
