I hope this is the correct place for this.  My first gif attempt.  May be my last!

Do you think my first gif is too slow.  I think he lifts his head faster in the trailer so I remade it here.  But I'm not sure I like it faster.  I like the seductive looking nice and slow one...

Hmmm, maybe less frames would actually be a good thing?  Any opinions?

I prefer it slow, Whimsy.  Great job! Are you still using Photoshop?  Have you tried Photoscape?  It only takes me a few minutes to make a gif sans words with Photoscape and it's free.

Whimsy, give Photoscape a try.  You can do everything way easier than on Photoshop since it allows for batch editing (add text, filters, cropping, resizing, etc.)  It isn't quite as versitile artistically as Photoshop but the basic stuff is way less tedius. 

Here is what I use (all are free downloads):

-I use DVD Video Soft Video Dub to cut my video down into a manageable clip.  It will handle a buch of different file types so you don't have to convert your files.  Then I use DVD Video Soft Video to JPG Converter to create screencaps of all of the frames in the clip. (This takes a matter of minutes)

-I use InfranView if I want a lot of control over cropping.  Photoscape will allow some basic batch cropping but I can get more control with Infranview.  Infranview will do batch cropping too so this is also a very quick process.  (This takes maybe 5 to 10 minutes to cut crop hundreds of JPGs to a specific size.)

-I use Photoscape batch editing to add text and filters (if required) to my JPGs.  Then I use the Photoscape gif editor (all included in the software) to string the JPGs together to create a gif.   It will allow you to arrange the JPGs in whatever order you want, delete whichever ones you want in the string (to reduce the file size) set the frame transition rate (to slow down or speed up your gif) and allow you to set the size of your gif.  You can work with it large so you can see what you are doing and then reduce the size right before you save the gif or you can leave the large if you want.  I usually make mine smaller to upload them to Tumblr.   (I only usually spend 15 minutes or so on each gif this way or maybe 30 minutes if it's a complicated gif with some frames without text and some frames with text or a gif with text that changes.) 

I can make a set of 6 gifs with text in an hour or two.  I'd be futzing with Phtoshop for days.

yes....the hair - definately needs a ruffle!  And yes....the pompous look - straight into the camera.....the smirk.....eeeekk!!
