WHAT YOU WATCHIN? The TV Thread!

OH OH... I like this thread biggrin

Of course I'm quite behind the original airing, but I've just finished Sherlock and totally loved it smile. The acting in this series is in my opinion
very good.
I'm also watching the third season of Misfits (that does a lot in broadening my knowledge of spoken English wink ), and maybe then will try some period drama (just for the balance). Suggestions?

From the New World smile, I would like to watch seasons 2, 3 , 4 and 5 of Supernatural (seen 1, 6 and 7 so far - yes I have been chaotic ) and will surely watch the second season of Game of Thrones. Not sure about the second of Being Human US, that I like less than "our" BH.

My friends recommend me to see True Blood and I think I'll try it. And this should be all biggrin

Ooh, lets see..
I like Sherlock, and I watched True Blood for like 2 and a half series but somehow just stopped watching it, same with Doctor Who..
And I'm planning on watching Game Of Thrones, and maaaybe, just maybe if I ever get to it I'll watch Misfits. Oh and I quite enjoy NCIS and Bones and that kind of show when they're on.

Lets see..... I recently started watching Doctor Who and i fell in love with it. another show i love it American Horror Story. I also watch Vampire Diaries, Lost Girl, and Degrassi. I did watch the first season of the American Being Human but the second lost me completely after about the 4th episode.

Right apart from BH UK I've watched Sherlock Series 1 and 2 and loved it. I've also watched Misfits and The Fades and Doctor Who and a bunch of other UK shows that are not currently on air.
With regard to US shows I'm currently mostly watching Game of Thrones, Mad Men (discovered that one recently), Once Upon a Time, The Mentalist and Supernatural (though I have to say I've lost interest in that show somewhere through season 6 and I'm currently watching mostly out of a sense of duty - might give it up soon). Might have forgotten one or two shows. I need to think about it.

Among those that have been off the air for quite some time but which I would nevertheless recommend are: Life on Mars (with John Simm) Pushing Daisies, Firefly and Babylon 5.

Watching Silk, The Killing USA and just seen the last ever episode of Desperate Housewives. I've watched them all, so it was quite emotional!

I watch a lot of television. My Sky+ box gets very busy but now the seasons are drawing to a close, it's having a bit of a holiday.

So what do i watch?

Being Human, Doctor Who, Sherlock, Hawaii-5-0, NCIS, NCIS:LA, Glee, The Vampire Diaries, True Blood, Castle, Bones, Grey's Anatomy, Supernatural, Who Do You Think You Are, Rizzoli and Isles, Body of Proof, Whitechapel, Vera (filmed in Northumberland, my part of the world!), Inspector George Gently, Law and Order: Criminal Intent, Law and Order:UK,  Criminal Minds, DIY SOS and i really liked 'Call the Midwife' that was on earlier in the year, very true to the books.

I also love history documentaries and i'm fascinated by crime channels. I can watch shows where autopsy/crime scene photos are shown but i can't and won't watch a horror movie. Go figure.

I sky plus everything (kind of like Tivo for those unfamiliar with the system) and watch it later, it's really rare that i watch a show 'live' (Being Human is the only exception and then i tend to watch it a few minutes after it starts on catch up)

Lots of good taste here! agree with most of the above, but I am very selective about tv...as I mentioned before I could not watchit for years, so now that i do I am very selective and choose carefully what I fill myself up with!

Am I the only one who has the odd geeky moment? I love wildlife and natural history programmes!

Being Human is a given Lisa!

For me the only one that comes anyway near in terms of epicness is Sherlock

have a real problem with Glee.. I cannot bear to be in the same room if it is on! (sorry!)

That's okay, each to their own.

I do like Glee and have watched it from the start, i think here is where i diverge slightly from my usual television interests as there's a distinct crime/whodunnit shows. I prefer the Glee version of 'Bad Romance' to the Lady Gaga version.

Just saw this topic so figured I would reply... lol Besides Being Human (Both versions) I LOVE Sherlock and True Blood. Have all seasons/series on DVD. I also watch The Big Bang Theory. I don't watch a lot of TV as my time is limited, but I pick shows I can "Get into". I am afraid to watch Doctor Who, because, according to my brother, "You watch enough "guys" already." Bless his heart, he thinks that's the only reason I watch what I do. Lol... But I have heard it was good and may try to watch it on Netflix...

Um, I also watch NASCAR racing, I have been a fan of that since 1992. I used to watch Criminal Minds, NCIS and Law and Order SVU with my mom but since she has passed I can't watch them. Anyhoo, that's really the only shows I can think of.

I would recommend True Blood to anyone who doesn't have a weak tummy. Lol, or gets uncomfortable in "Sexual situations." And of course Being Human but that's why we're already here... Hehe...

The American version of 'Being Human' has never been shown here in the UK, in all honesty i think it's because there is so much affection for the original version that TV channels here are reluctant to air it. I suppose it may emerge one day, possibly once the original is over (i should say if, not when). I think i'd watch out of curiosity, to see how it's been interpreted and i'm also a fan of Sam Witwer's since he appeared in Smallville (another show i really loved)

@Ruby I first saw the first three episodes of the US version of Being Human first, then I started watching the UK one and the first three between the 2 (to me) are almost identical in the way it's written. I absolutely LOVE George! He is by far the best werewolf... :) No offense to Tom... Anyway, I watch them both and can't wait where they take season three of the US version since they totally changed the story lines...

I am so with you in Twin Peaks Matty..everything David Lynch fascinates me!

So as there are lots for Sherlock fans here...any theories on what happened at the end of series 2? ( or is that sacred untouchable territory ?)

Molly is a fantastic character Matty, the whole dynamic between them is galvanizing to watch. I honestly have no ideas, but am I right in thinking we have quite while a while to find out?

Oh yes Misfits, large ticks in boxes for that show too!

Is anyone watching True Love on BBC 1 at the moment? Amazing lineup of actors appearing in that. (sorry to non uk members i know this is very uk centric)

Don't worry domino, with time we manage to watch them somehow... smile
So, what is that True love about?

Sherlock (should I say: WARNING; SPOILERS!!!):

I think in the end things didn't go as he (and most likely Molly) had planned in advance... When he asks Moriarty a minute of privacy and stares down from the rooftop, it seems clear to me that he sees something that reveils Moriarty's plan. Probably the people who is assembling down the street are Jim's accomplices... to say more about what they are preparind I would need Sherlock's brain!  confuse Anyway, he has to adjust his plan once, and then again when Moriarty understands he understood and kills himself. My idea is that his original plan was not to jump. he is clearly upset when prepares himself to actually do it, not because he fears to die, but for the pain he is going to give to his friends...(unplanned)

My point is: why should he fake emotions when he is alone and nobody sees him? All words we ear can be a scheme (or more than one), but emotions just have to be true...

TRUE LOVE is good - simple but effective thanks to the cast being great. i like that it is 'improvised' by the actors...

SHERLOCK - i think it won't be until 2013 till we get series 3 with cast / writers / producers v.busy on other stuff...but it will be worth the wait as Moffat is a genius...

MISFITS - also genius - hope the major cast changes work out as well next series as BH did?!

I hope so, too, even if it seems to me that the loss of nathan already affected it (I'm still going through season 3... ) cry

Among my friends here everyone's favourite characters have been Nathan and Kelly... hmm
