Heard from Brookesey, she and her OH Trevor (our official forum photographer!) are going on the 23rd Jan, so looking forward to piccies, Trevs portraits of Damien at stage doors have become quite famous and they are always stunning!
My tickets for 1 March in Northampton were waiting on my doorstep today too. If you're going to the evening showing a bunch of us forumers are going then so we might see yo there IAmArmony. Do try to meet him if you get the chance as he is lovely and will put your nerves at ease straight away.
I notice that his spotlight page has updated with The Body Of An American details & Damien has added the poster as the banner on his twitter account.
The more I read about this play the more intrigued I am to see it. 28 days & counting until my first viewing!
Aw shucks. Im going to the matinee show as it's the best one for trains to get there and back :(

I've got my ticket for 1 March too....it's a shame we'll miss you IAmArmony! But my first time is only 2 weeks tomorrow!!! Not quite opening night...I'm going on 18th, with Laura. Shame I couldn't make the 23rd - would've been lovely to meet up with Brookesey again (...on the plus side I won't have to avoid Trev's camera!! although it will be great to see some more of his pics...).
Agree, becca - it is quite intriguing.....can't wait!!
So I thought I would do a little timetable of who is going when, if anyone else is out there and wants to meet up with other fans or has a date to add please let us know in the comments! #DamoFieldTrip
Thanks for posting these, domino.....I've only watched a few of them so far, but they're really interesting. One of the clips is a reading from the play - it's good to see how one voice alternates between the actors.....I wasn't sure how that could work - its sounds really confusing in theory -but seems pretty straightforward in practise!
This definately looks like performance for a small space - intimate theatre....I'm unreasonably excited, but must admit that I'm also a little nervous - I think it might really be quite affecting....
ARRRGGHHHHH! Just found out my OH is going out on the 23rd, so I could go to the theatre again, but that date's now sold out! Darn it! Will have to pick another date instead...
Might just come down for a lurk and a "take pity on me and let me in" though...?
Glad you enjoyed them all fifi, was unsure if those going to see the play wanted to see any background or ideas from the writer himself, I think I want to see the play blind without any context at all, just for the full overwhlem experience. but then read everything I could about it after!
Sounds like the perfect present Su.
So... The Body of an American makes it's european debut one week today!
I did mention it in the topic but thought I would highlight it because it is pretty amazing - Damien and William Gaminara will be playing over 30 roles between them in the play:
"The two actors take on more than 30 roles “in an exhilarating new form of documentary drama”. It places these two men’s battles—both public and private—against a backdrop of some of the most graphic images of war." source
Or according to the Gate, over 20
Also in case anyone missed the topic, there are some fabulous rehearsal photos of the two actors here
I've just booked to go on the 8th Feb (matinee) at the Gate. It is the best one for me for trains there & back. Never seen Damien live before. So excited!!!
