Jack's hair. It's wild for sure. And the scruff. I think that helps underscore how he's married to his job. He looks like he spends long hours on the job, doesn't give much thought to himself. (though he has fantastic taste in clothes!)

agree whimsy, not romantic, not even sexual.. that is not where i was going....but there is something.. subliminal... too many of their encounters have certain tension in the air and certain choices of words but dont want to go off on a tangent
I don't see it as romantic, Whimsy. I think there is a fundamental difference here in my perception of crush and "crush" as defined by most people. I'm a demi-sexual and have "crushes" on people that have no romantic or sexual component. So I think she finds him visually pleasing and likes his personality and likes him as a person. So there is some subconscious attraction but that it isn't really of a conscious sexual or romantic nature. Does that make any sense?

YES Jane! makes perfect sense and in that sense, I agree. He has a certain charisma and she's attracted to it.

perfect sense to me jane. there is a whole spectrum of that dynamic its not just romantic or sexual / not romantic, not sexual. there are loads of other dynamics that are never expressed or never realised but nevertheless exist
Well I got your drift Jane. I think Jack is teasing Martha, sometimes little "sexual way" but with lots of humor, Martha is pointing out she is older and his boss, but she have lots of humor and she jumps into Jacks world for time to time.
Jack examines Kirk Hawthorne's car, confirms broken brake light to Martha and points out vomit on the back seat
Scene 23: 18.13-19.10
Jack arrests Kirk Hawthorne at the hospital on suspicion of conspiracy to commit manslaughter and perverting the course of justice
Scene 24: 19.11-20.11
Martha and Jack interview Kirk Hawthorne, who tells them he leaves his car keys in his office so any member of staff could have used them to move Tom from the club
(Scene 25: 20.12-21.18 Charlie interviews bar manager Guy Ollerbury, who tells her he has been on holiday snowboarding)
Scene 26: 21.19-21.58
Jack and Charlie are on the roof talking about the case, when Martha calls Jack with news that security Manager Dave Masting's fingerprints were on the steering wheel of Kirk's car.
(Scene 27: 21.59-23.12 Martha interviews Dave, who says he moved the car to make room for a big delivery and denies any knowledge of the whereabouts of the cctv camera. Martha tells him they have a warrant to search his gym locker. "Don't tell me, no comment")
Scene 28: 23.13-23.54
Jack goes to Dave's gym, searches his locker and finds the cctv camera,
"Bingo"
Scene 29: 23.55-24.49
Jack and Martha interview Dave, showing him cctv footage from the camera they recovered, of him carrying Tom down the stairs at the club
Martha "Oh look, who's that Dave, have you got a twin brother?"
Jack: " No comment? No comment? NO COMMENT?"
Scene 30: 24.50-25.53
Jack and Martha interview Dave Mastings with his solicitor present, Dave reads a statement saying Kirk had panicked about his license when Tom was found so Dave took him out via the fire exit, but he was still alive. When he returned the bar manager informed him Kirk has been assaulted, Dave told him to phone an ambulance while he removed the cctv, he hoped to identify the person himself
Scene 31: 25.54-27.35
Martha and Jack interview Kirk. He won't speak until Jack shows him the photo of Tom dead. He eventually admits he knew Dave moved Tom.
I like how Martha is "part of the team", is comfortable with their banter, gives as much as she gets. In so many police procedurals the boss distances him/herself. Martha doesn't have to assert her position. It's just a natural part of their dynamic.

Anyone else noticed cameraman's reflection in scene 23? I sure did, Bothered me little. But yeah, loved that arresting style, he was so gentle. "Can you stand for me now?"..
I don't know if you can tell, but as Martha is approaching the car Jack had been chatting up with the forensics girl. And then at the hospital he checks out the nurses as they pass by.
I like his arrest here, because I believe he was deliberately trying to throw Kirk off by being gentle about it. Sounded sympathetic at first, asking if he could stand, but he had the ulterior motive of arresting him. Then he toughened up with Kirk telling him to hurry with changing.

I liked that scene 22, Jack was telling so proudly what he have found.
Scene 23 there was this super gentle Jack arresting and cameraman's reflection.
Scene 28 was great, loved how he looked at the camera again.
I often wonder is that somekind of inside joke, or is it just Damien's style cause he has done lot of theatre and he creates connection with audience in the same way, so is he trying to get some connection with those looks in the camera. Cause they work so well!
agree on the camera domino. I believe sometimes it's intentional, like the reflection here and when he turns to the camera and says "bingo". It's little reminders that they are supposed to be being followed by cameras.

Jack was chatting with forensics.. didn't nnotice he was chatting anyone up! (Hal line anyone? "I dont need to chat up, I have charm and wit")
OOh i love how Jack does that quiet but intense thing... he is either quite direct.. or he does that ... it is almost like a game as he tries to psych out his prey....
