The second half of this two-part story opens with Martha arriving at a murder scene to find Jack already there, covered in Edward Shaffer’s blood. He brushes off her questions but will be in big trouble if anyone finds out what he was doing there.
Shaffer’s widow Tamsin (Gillian Kearney) seems shocked by his death and disgusted by his crimes, but could she have been married for all that time and remain innocent of his predilections?
Another suspect is Justin Marecroft. The mature student made numerous phone calls to Edward just before he died, allegedly to cancel a party he had booked at the dance studio after seeing ‘paedo’ written in graffiti on the side of Shaffer’s van.
The breakthrough comes when Charlie finds a USB stick among Edward’s effects containing footage of him and several other men raping a young boy, André Gatting. The hunt to find the boy and his abusers runs into complications when the boy’s feckless mum Tracey talks to the press, a move which could put her son’s life in danger…
Oh my god, really dark subjects! I'm most intrigued to see how this will affect Jack. In S1 E5, he was extremely upset about Anna Fisher, only 13. He was driven with single-minded focus in his pursuit of those responsible.

I agree, domino - a re-watch is definitely needed! So much happened in these episodes.....the pace of the storylines is incredible and there are so many twists and turns it's almost hard to keep up with what crime they're actually investigating. It's totally gripping....and these last two eps were more dramtic than most tv drama! I thought last series was good.....but this one has been fantastic!
This episode, and all the episodes in S2 were so damn good! I can't even figure out where to start in my commenting at the moment. All I know is that this show deserves to be on a channel that is more widely viewed/respected. It deserves to be distributed internationally. It deserves many more series. It deserves to win awards! And I will be gutted if it doesn't get some recognition!

That was seriously awesome! I am not surprised that Jack has been given time off to get his act together. I also think that Fay Ripley stepped up to the mark at last. She was excellent in this episode whereas before I felt she was "going through the motions", so to speak!
I have just had a look on Imdb at the episode list for season one to see if there is any clue to the content of the missing episodes but it turns out, according to the website, that these last four were some of them with only Ep 10 missing.
Of course it might all be that someone has edited the page (which can be done by members) and that is completely wrong.

fifi I agree, dramatic and super twisty turny! these episodes, all of them really, are so skilfully crafted in so many ways, the formula really really works.
whimsy, well said! On the one hand though let's also hope that the show brings more recognition to the channel it aired on! I do feel this series was halted in its prime which seems counterintuitive - the time around the show generated lots more interest and was beginning to create a groundswell of mainstream interest too - why not reap the rewards of that amazing result and embed it in the mass consciousness with just a few more eps to give the show a decent and firm foundation! the lack of continuity with promo stuff like trailers is also a little disconcerting. Emmett Scanlan was in the series 2 trailer. and a few other actors that now won't be seen until next year.
Pearl, I saw the same on the Suspects IMDb page, but the eps we have just seen were filmed over the summer I believe.. so I am not entirely sure what happened there? I think Fremantle take care of the page, only because it was them who sent me the first official Suspects image and they said it was the photo they are using on the imdb page.
A- ha so that's what spurred the naughty corner chat on twitter this afternoon, i didn't see the feet photo and i follow Damien on Twitter... how odd.
Anyhow...
Well wow!. As has already been said, a very twisty turny episode and it did move at a very rapid pace. It could've lasted another half an hour easily with everything that was going on.
At last Martha proved her mettle, we saw that leader cop, how she was with Tamsin (and i chuckled and then cheered quietly as she tore a strip off her), reprimanding Jack, pulling him into line and sending him home for six weeks. And that boy...he came so close to stuffing it all up. I hoped that he wouldn't plant the towel and he didn't, he didn't get the opportunity as it happened but i was glad that his morals came to the fore and he did the right thing though Martha did make things a tad sticky for him wanting to know how he'd got to the scene of Schaffer's death so quickly...that dancing training came in handy there Jack!!
I was disappointed that this series only lasted four episodes and that we have to wait til next year to see any more. Will we be seeing the remainding episodes of series one? if so, why not now, why not capitalise on the show's new found popularity (first two eps garnered just over 700k in viewers, second two 650k and up so their audience pretty much held over the two weeks) and show them? I want more Suspects, making us wait til 2015 is just cruel.
Now i wonder what Jack got up to during his enforced summer vacation! ;) (sounds like a fic in the making there!)

Agree Lisa, according to GBTV ratings, episode 4 had 700k (4.5%) viewers which is pretty decent for the channel!
I am not sure Jack showed any remorse for his actions, when Martha called him in the office earlier in the episode he was all "what do you want me to say?" and " you're making me feel like I did something wrong". It would be interesting to see the 'after' videos from the characters (like the character videos we've seen before)
While he didn't in the end plant the evidence or break those rules, his intent was to do that and coupled with his hot headed approach at times, he got away with it all fairly lightly. The story was very clever there, it all threw up some interesting moral conundrums, had the video evidence not been found, would they ever have 'caught' Mr Shaffer? is it ok to bend rules to get the right results and to serve justice? Of course that turned out to be academic in the end.
I also really enjoyed having that ambiguity to Jacks character - he is certainly not all black and white, but shades of grey. As always Damien plays those levels supremely well.
