‘THE HARD PROBLEM': LAST CHANCE TO SEE DAMIEN MOLONY LIVE ON STAGE IN FINAL PERFORMANCES

The Hard Problem is nearing the end if its run with only 6 performances left until Damien takes his final bow on the stage of London’s National Theatre.

Damien appears alongside Olivia Vinall (Hilary), Jonathan Coy (Leo), Anthony Calf (Jerry), Vera Chok (Bo), Lucy Robinson (Ursula), Rosie Hilal (Julia) and Parth Thakerar (Amal) in the Tom Stoppard / Nicholas Hytner production.

His character Spike is central to the play and while many scenes focus on a science institute investigating the brain, much of the action revolves around Spike debating the themes of neuroscience, consciousness, human behaviour and altruism with his occasional lover Hilary, in a series of witty and thought-provoking scenes set in the bedroom.

While Spike clearly enjoys flexing his (and our) brain muscles, his torso muscles are also frequently on display, when he appears in his underwear, or a silky robe throughout, providing, alongside the humour, a distracting counterpoint to the intellectual sparring.

The production has seen a successful, sell-out run since opening for previews on 21 January and also included screenings worldwide with NT Live on 16 April, making it accessible to international audiences.
