The video shows how Intimacy Co-ordinator Ita O'Brien worked with Damien, Emmeline Hartley, the director and creators during filming of intimate scenes.
This is very much behind the scenes, but does contain spoilers for content in the film.
This is a really good insight into the process, great to see how well the actors are supported and protected and how carefully the scenes are considered and constructed. So important. Even more admiration for the film and filmmakers now and for Damien being involved in it.
I will admit to looking at the crowd of people around the bed and bursting out laughing at the thought of either of the characters getting aroused! Nothing like a camera zooming in to break the moment! Seriously, listening to the interviews I think the intimacy coordinator is a really good idea - some of the actresses had had really creepy experiences.
I found this little film really interesting. I thought the comment that using a fight co-ordinator is usual, so why not a intimacy co-ordinator very pertinant......it does seem particularly appropriate considering the topic of the film. It must be such a difficult thing for (especially inexperienced) actors to do if they have to just wing it. As Damien said - he's done a number of 'intimate' tv scenes, but has never had any specialist direction before
And, of course, it's always lovely to see a little bit of Damien (!) - sorry! Is that in bad taste considering the subject?!
It was shared by the official Insta page to promote an event with intimacy co-ordinator Ita O'Brien, who worked with Damien and Emmeline on Keep Breathing - and also worked on Normal People the series everyone is ravin about at the moment!
