Fifi, the redesigning of the Tardis is all wrong. The whole point of it being a police box in the beginning is that something went wrong with it and the Doctor couldn't change it into anything else. If he cannot change the outside, how does he change the inside?

Yes, I know it's only a TV programme but these things matter!

You're right, Pearl. The story still has to make sense in its own universe. It's always irked me that the interior of the Tardis can change when its exterior can't. But I'm just going to have to assume that the chameleon control got damaged, but the interior design one is fine.

Yesterday morning, a friend of mine - and massive Dr Who fan - happened to be walking from one meeting to another when there was this sudden buzz on the street around him - there was something occurring at Trafalgar Sq. Cheesed off at work, he decided to go and see ... And he ended up just feet away from Matt Smith filming for the 50th anniversary episode. We've got our fingers crossed that we'll be able to spot him in it.

UJ - I saw an article about the filming in Trafalgar Square.  How exciting for your friend to just stumble across it!

Yes...it is important for tv programmes to make sense in the context of their own reality, and I guess that the nature of tv and the way it is produced means that it is often a bit.......fluid.  I know that there are many inconsistancies in being human which I quite willingly create reasons for or overlook (although I've never quite reconciled the toxic ww blood thing!) but for some reason I find these things hard to ignore in Dr Who.

I really liked last nights episode. David Warner was brilliant. I think it's my favourite episode that Mark Gatiss has written so far.

Well...considering that tonight's ep is the last one of the series...this thread has gone pretty quiet!  I wonder if that's because this series hasn't really grabbed people.  Or is is because the attention of this site has been drawn to Ripper St?!

I found the first 3 eps.....disappointing.  The ice warrior one was ok...but I must admit that right at the start, when the bloke started to defrost the ice, I actually said out loud, "I'm sorry...but I just don't see his motivation.  I mean why would he do that?".  Which made it a bit difficult to get into!

I think it's picked up in the last few eps though....the centre of the tardis one and the cyber men are my two favourites, I think.  Clara has grown on me.  To start with I think she was just a bit too....full of herself.  But - and I don't know if this is character development, my perception, or just chance - she seems to have developed a vulnerability as the series has progressed....an awareness of danger and her own mortailty.   Is it just me, or did the start of the cyberman ep make anybody else think of Mary Poppins?  It still annoys me that she's got this 'other' thing going on, though.  Why can't she just be a normal person....

So...last episode tonight.  And I've found myself thinking that I'm actually going to miss it.....I am really quite disappointed that it's the end of the series. It's a long wait until the next series of Sherlock......or Ripper Street!

Ummm....what's happened to the poll results at the top of this thread? Has my vote been uncounted, or has the whole thing been reset?

I know what you mean Fifi. It's been the first series since it came back that my husband and I haven't been desperate to watch live - or certainly within a day or so.

I like Clara as a character although the sudden re-entry of her family in the last but one episode was a bit weird. However, I agree that the last two episodes have been the best of the series and we are looking forward to watching the last one tonight.

I watched it live (i usually record it and watch it the next morning with a cup of tea for company) but i knew everyone would be talking about it online so watched it live and i adored it. That reveal at the end had me, as i said via Twitter, clapping my hands like an overexcited four year old. Roll on November!!

We have DVR, and have it set to record in case we can't watch right away, but I told hubby that if we missed it, I'd hate to have to avoid the internet until I could so as not to spoil myself...lol.  It was definitely a fitting last episode.  I'm so excited for the 50th anniversary episode.

I have read that Matt Smith is doing Series 8 so the John Hurt appearance is nothing to do with regeneration. Who do you think he really is? I am plumping for zero - or minus one. In other words before he became The Doctor.

Perhaps we should be keeping this spoiler free, until everyone has seen the ep?

I think once a show has been broadcast, people can't be surprised if they end up being spoiled. I didn't watch the show until this weekend, so I kept out of the thread. If people get too excited or can't contain themselves, that's down to them and they only have themselves to blame.

Anyway, fantastic finale, unlike the rest of this crop of episodes. There were a couple of okay ones, but otherwise they were just boring, with the Russian nuclear sub being a low point. I agree with fifi, it made no sense to melt out the ice warrior, and what a waste of David Warner. He got to deliver one liners about 80s music and that was it.

Am I right in thinking Moffat is no longer show runner? Only saw his name as writer on the finale. I've been told he's doing the 50th anniversary and I can only pray that's true.

Agreed UJ, maybe a few days after though, so people have had a chance to catch it on the iplayer if they missed it.... So now should be fine!

I couldn't really get into the series either, but the finale was outstanding. cannot wait to see the explanation for this one!

I'm a little gutted as I think Matt and Jenna-Louise work really well together, but it'll be interesting to see how she copes with the regeneration.

No problem with #damienforthedoctor in my book! halyes

It is interesting to note that it was quite late in the day (gone 8pm) when it was uploaded.  I wonder if all the media have picked it up yet!  A trip to Digital Spy is called for I think!

I'm veering between the #DamienforDoctor camp and not. I'm kind of conflicted.

On the one hand, it would be the role of an absolute lifetime for him and yes Domino, i remember him saying on the blog that it would be an honour to play the Doctor, whether he'd genuinely want the role or was just being polite is another matter entirely. The role would ultimately make his name worldwide.

On the other hand, if he were to get this and take it on, apart from the massive shoes he'd be filling (and let's face it, it's not like it hasn't happened before for Damien...Aidan Turner anyone?) the publicity behind the role will change life for him as he currently knows it in a massive way. I remember the amount of press and publicity Matt got, he was everywhere, what he wore, what he said, did and dated was all front page fodder. Would Damien be ready for that, would he be comfortable with it because compared to the Being Human fandom, the Who fandom is in it's own timezone completely. He wouldn't be as 'accessible' to us as he always seem to be, i can't imagine stage dooring him after a play if he's Twelve, could you? (We wouldn't get near him.)

So, like i said, on one hand, yes please, other hand, not really sure....so, conflicted.
