So we have mentioned this in a couple of other topics, but it needs to be said here. HAL in a film! either a Being Human film,(as mentioned by Phil in the DVD extras for series 4) or a tangential Hal only spin off..possibly focussing on the 500 years that we know little about!
old topic but new to me so I'll give it a go: I'm with you domino. I'm a total vamp girl and have fallen under Hal's-adorkable-yet-badass spell, so please and thank you. quite an adjustment and disappointed that BH seasons (sorry series) are so short. but they do pack a punch. wish they had hollywood budgets.
period pieces since he's so lovely in period dress: Mr. Darcy - obviously!
Mr. Rochester - my absolute favorite classic
Edmond Dantes - can't you just picture him plotting & executing his revehnge?
he's about 10 yrs older than he needs to be, but if they ever made movies/series about my favorite fantasy novels He'd be my pick:
Rand al'Thor - The Wheel of Time series- if ever there was someone who could capture the essence of the boy that becomes The Dragon Reborn, prophesied to both save and destroy the world, becoming slightly mad at times from the taint on The One Power, it would be Damien. From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rand_al'Thor: "He has gone from the stubborn boy who refused to accept he was anything more than a simple sheepherder, to an iron-willed man who sometimes seems to have lost all trace of humanity.". plus he's a master swordsman, can level cities with his magical power, and has lots of enemies plotting against him. Very actiony!
Jamie Fraser - Outlander series - hello, Scottish Laird from 1700's! from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outlander_(novel): "Claire's husband in the 18th century is a strapping young Scottish redhead with a complicated past and a disarming sense of humor. Jamie is intelligent, principled, and, by 18th century standards, educated and worldly. He picks up languages very well.". I swoon just thinking about Damien with reddish hair! Also TON of action! whew, was that TMI? I'm a bit passionate about my books!

I thought of one more role I'd love to see Damien Play.
Niel Caffrey from White Collar: (why not a UK version I say!)
a skilled forger and thief who was imprisoned after being captured by FBI. Neal escapes from prison in order to find his girlfriend, but Peter quickly recaptures him. Neal proposes he become an FBI consultant
"the veneer of the charming, hyper-intelligent, eloquent, sly mastermind, but underneath, he was really a kind of diehard romantic who would go to any lengths to find the love of his life."
Neal is also very much of a people person. His confidence makes it easy for him to con people (particularly women), and he frequently draws attention to himself wherever he goes. Jeff Eastin says of casting Neal: "I wanted a guy who walked into a room and every head turned. Because this guy is elegant, and he’s sophisticated, and he’s smart and he loves the attention."

I think I just discovered my favourite topic here on the forum :D (hopefully anyone will join me in the discussion? ;)
hot topic: Damien as Bond. For me it's no at this moment, he's too young for the role, but I can see him playing Bond in 10-15 years.
I'd love to see him in some period drama, there's something... 'oldschool' and poetic about the way he speaks and moves. When he gets bit older he will be great Rochester, Knightley or Darcy.
I think him and Ben Whishaw are similar types so I could see him playing John Keats in Bright Star or even Freddie in The Hour.
Sticking to what i said last year about him playing bond :) i'm never going to stop thinking or liking the idea of that!!
Id love to see him in more theater! as i am a lover of theater and being able to preform infront of an audience is an amazing feeling!
Id like to see him do , Shakespeare :) and over brilliant plays like 'If you dont let us dream , we wont let you sleep."
Id like to see him play more posh characters , i think he can portray that very well!! :) Well he can do anything well! his acting skills just blow me away! wow
But yeah , id still love to see him play bond one day :) or even just pretending to be bond in some theater play or tv show , just give me 5 minuets of Damo being bond and i'm happy ;D x

Anyway, must dash. Friend about to kill lots of people.
I agree that Damien would make a fantastic Bond, but I think Daniel Craig has a few more in him yet, perhaps in a few years' time?
Right now I'd LOVE to see Damo in some kind of musical production, I hope you'd all agree that "Puttin' On The Ritz" was just marvellous - he can sing, dance AND act so how about a Danny Zuko-Grease-type role? His scope as an actor is unbelievable, and I suppose there may be a few of you who think he's above rom-coms, but I must admit I'm a sucker for romance (Halex has melted my heart).
And of course more plays, anything, just theatre and the possibility of seeing him in the flesh again! Maybe even in something like Macbeth.. Why not?!

I just need to know what else there is for me here.Me. There's me.
I'm seriously jealous of you, English people because you can meet him in person! So for my selfish reasons I don't really support his theatre career, give me more TV or film! :D
Talking about rom-coms, I could totally see him playing a prince! For example like in Mirror, Mirror. I think he would be great.
Lol! Oh yes, could definitely see Damien playing a prince. with a noble side and a very mischievous side, with panache and at the same time awkwardness, with confidence and at the same time filled with self doubt..and he shall be called Prince Hal.....
It is honestly hard to imagine a role that Damein would not be good in, Being Human is a multi genre piece, and in Hal alone he has shown so many aspects of performance and the kinds of characters he can play. But my least favourite would be anything one dimensional..this would be my worry with a rom com!
I think he could do anything to be honest!!! He's a great actor and he would be fantastic in anything. But i think he should have a lead role in another BBC drama first 'cause we'd see hours and hours of him. If he's in a film we'd have 2 hours of Molony magic and then it would be over for another year or so. In a BBC drama there would just be far more of him.
Agree chicken! definitely more face time in a tv series than a film. why not both?
Having seen Damien at the 2 film awards ceremonies this week, it feels so right that Damien will end up in them. (and oh the Bond feels!) He is such a film fan and has said in interviews he would love to get into film, that passion and his talent, it feels an inevitability.
I don't know why, but I could see Damien as Bruce Banner/The Hulk. He just has the right acting style and the right look, he played a troubled vampire so why not a troubled scientist? XD
I'd love to see him hulk out, but he'd be sharing screen time with his CGI Hulk. There are plenty of other troubled scientists running amok in fiction though ... Well, Jekyl and Hyde leap out.

It would definitely give us a similar dual persona to the one we had with Hal and I am very keen on any roles that give Damien a similar opportunity to flex his acting chops. and definitely more ANGST. give us more angst! But the hulk? a few more press ups ?
Last night I finally got around to watching Joss Whedon's Dr Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog. Now I know Damien must work, and sing, with Joss Whedon. Should Joss do a sequel to Avengers Assemble, it must be a musical and it must have Damien.

No but in all honesty one day I'd rather see Damien as bond than Tom Hiddleston (Who seems to be very thirsty for the current available roles.)
Would be a blessing to see Damien in a huge big ass Hollywood role. Even if I fear it would change his personality like 98% of celebs who get big.
Other roles, I think if there was ever an American Psycho remake Damien would make quite the Patrick Bateman... But no my heart still is settled that one day Damien should play bond.
