The only way I could get through that ruddy 50 Shades was by imagining Damien as Christian, and even then I had to skim the last third of it. I only read it for book club. I suspected it wouldn't be for me but had hopes I'd be pleasantly surprised ... I was wrong.

We have been talking about David Lynch films in another topic here ( with regard to When The Hurlyburly's Done short film being non-linear in structure ) and I am going to add that to my list of film roles I would like to see Damien play, not necessarily Lynch but something equally unphotorealistic, more surreal, abstract, with dreamscapes = could be drama could be sci fi, or both!
As long as it's 'good', would be my main requirement. I find it easier to know what I wouldn't care for, like some run-of-the-mill by the numbers formulaic tripe. (Yeah, I said the same thing three times there, to really put my point across.)

Lol, you may need to be more specific UJ, one persons run of the mill formualiac tripe may be another's filmic heaven!! But, I think i agree, although, sometimes if they are seriously mainstream those kind of films raise an actor's profile, and are worth doing as part of a filmography. And I do not subscribe to the school of thought that an actor should only do 'actorly' films, I have eclectic taste and enjoyed many a blockbuster, and an actor like Damien even with the limited exposure he has had so far, appears to have a great range and levels of darkness to light so the possibilities seem limitless.
Ah, there are blockbusters I love too. Perhaps an example would be the Spiderman movies. I loved the Maguire movies but was unimpressed by The Amazing Spiderman. Both movies aren't just formulaic but cooked literally from the same recipe. Yet I found The Amazing Spiderman underwhelming and unnecessary. Part of this was timing, too soon after the first trilogy, for someone my age anyway. Cashing in on a known success is itself part of the formula. Perhaps that's one of the no doubt many reasons why some formulaic stuff works and some don't, a crass pursuit of profit! I am of course, all in favour of a noble pursuit of profit, which is, you know, noble and stuff. And I accept that doesn't necessarily produce a good piece of work. I can only assume that if Damien picks stuff because it's what he really wants to do, then that's got to be a good start.
And of coure, like you say, domino, it's all down to personal preference.

Have shared my thoughts on remakes / reboots of already classics elsewhere on the forum, so won't bore you and everyone else to tears with that again UJ. just to add sometimes a good trashy movie or a popcorn movie has it's place, escapism, getting your mind of stuff, just for the adrenalin ride and something not taking itself too seriously.
Also, just an observation, Mr Molony tweets about actionish films more than others, so maybe he likes that genre, But I have eclectic tastes me, so a mixture of genre and styles would be awesome and you can see that range in Damien just from playing Hal! Lol, see, we have his career path all laid out for him already! It is fun guessing what though, because it is inevitable methinks!
The Blue Brothers, Animal House, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, Dude, Where's my Car and National Treasure. All thoroughly enjoyable excellent nonsense.
Has Damien mentioned specific action movies? I recall him taking the michael out of the Twilight phenomenon, made me laugh.

I missed that UJ! Damien mentions films often on twitter..so many! and often action. Bond comes to mind first though, 'dream role' to quote. The other night Passenger 57 which would seem to exemplify the trash action point quite well. Whether an actors' tastes as an audience member aligns with their dream roles?
What role would I like to see Damien play? Something in the dark fantasy genre. A good guy, but seriously gritty and fast paced. or A period film but as a total and utter creep. Hmm actually, now I'm leaning towards horror. You think he's a good guy, he has all the hallmarks of one but turns out he's a freaking evil manipulative bad man. Oh, hell yeah. That I would love to see. :)
Many years ago I caused a lot of confusion on a site by using the colloquialism 'taking the piss'. I tried to explain by saying 'taking the michael' and 'pulling ones leg' and that still didn't help. It means making fun of, areyousomehowdrunk.
The interview is on this site. I had a quick look and I couldn't find it. He says something like Twilight must be good because of its popularity. Super sarcastic is how it came across. Made me laugh.

Another play would be good so i can perhaps get to this one ! Think he'd fit into ''Hollow Earth'' its a teenage drama novel being made into a film. Possibly a James Bond type of film too :D
I have not read it Kath but have heard it is quite Harry Potter like? I could see Damien in something fantasy based and magical, maybe exploring other worlds...but it is hard to think of a role he couldn't actually play!
As you will see from the previous comments you are not alone in the 'Damo for Bond' wish!
After all our chat here about big films, action films and so on..I realised I would also love to see Damien in a small intimate drama, minimal cast, beautifully written, totally character based...and for some reaons a road movie not necessarily a slice of life movie, but something quirky...
and how about a film musical!! has anyone said that yet?
I would like to see Damien in something Hobbit-like, something he has to grow a big beard for basically! *giggle* *thud* Wow I'm being very superficial now, sorry, but I'm not a very big movie geek/lover on anything so I don't really know what would suit him! Hmm... maybe an evil villain would be great to seehim play too!

Beardage would be fun, Making Rosebud hints at how epic Damien can be in that department! and a villan role would be amazing, especially after seeing Damien as evil Lord Harry in BH !
