Sami, believe me it is there, between the lines, subtle ain't we!
I did wonder if Damien was a method actor HalGal or even stayed in character between takes to keep himself focussed. But, when I chatted to him on the phone (get me) he was definitely Damien, with his lovely Irish tones, not a hint of posh or uptight Hal. It was most impressive. Putting myself in his shoes, I don't think i could switch in and out of role like that! but then that is what makes him the consummate pro and an excellent actor and me.. not so much.

I wondered what accent he had when he spoke to you as I read in an interview that last year he kept his "Hal" voice on all the time.

I spoke to him accidentally at one point when I was walking down the street to get my coat and he was sat on the back of one of the lorries. When I saw him he was sat alone and I was worried he was in character and so tried to walk calmly past but he said hi so I went on over and he was definitely Damien. He really looked in Hal mode too yet he was speaking in his lovely Irish accent! Thought I'd share that little story there guys sorry lol! Xxx

But seriously....That is interesting Laura! a year on, it seems he has evolved somewhat and can just flip in and out of character ...I definitely did not detect any Halisms, his accent was definitely irish, perhaps it got broader toward the end.. no ..right at the beginnning after the initial laughter the "yes it's really me, this is really happening" was totally Damien and totally his most Damienesque Irishess! *le sigh*

Haven't I told you that one becca?! Sorry hun I normally can't shut up about these stories Lol! I would find it difficult to decide which accent is sexier actually.....although he tried to put on a sexy voiceover voice in his Irish accent so that just about clinches it for me I reckon ;) x

Which of his accents is sexier? Yes, definitely a tough one.
Well his Motl accent sounded a lot like his Hal accent so perhaps i can claim that i've heard both 'live' too? His natural accent is gorgeous though, i remember coming across a little bit 'unnecessary' when i heard it after the play. Hard to believe that was almost eight months ago now.

LOL! Sue, how many more of these "accidental" chats with Damien are we going to hear about? As Domino says, we can never hear enough of them. I know you have a few gems that you can't tell us about until next year.
Back to Damien's accents. I have to say I prefer his Hal accent and his own one of course. I find it difficult to listen to his American ones, I have to admit.

Yeh domino in travelling light he plays with an english accent all the way through until about the last 10 minutes when he plays a different character who is american, new york i believe.
He is quite good at it but im still not keen....his own accent is far more beautiful, i would much rather listen to that :) xx

You all are so lucky to have met/talked/seen him acting live and to live somewhere that can even happen. I'd have to travel halfway around the world to even attempt it. So looking forward to reading more about these encounters. I'll live vicariously through them.
