Oh yeah, and there’s a lot of topless Hal, very early on…
Yay!
It starts with a flashback, and has lots of flashbacks.
Oooh, I really hope it's from when Hal was still human, or from another period where he was good...
Richard Wells’ music seems more to the fore than ever before, and there are some lovely moments when the score sounds like something out of Amelie
Sounds great, I love the music from Amelie.
A couple of performances by guest characters are a little broad and overly comedic (oh God, it’d the nasally nerd), but one of them redeems himself as the episode goes on.
Oh no not again, that's what I hated about season 4 (and season 3 too tbh)
There’s a very unexpected cameo. You may not even recognise who it is when he appears. If you don’t, check the final name in the list of actors in the credits (don’t do this beforehand, because if you do recognise who it is, you’ll love the fact that you recognised them without being prompted)
Sounds intriguing!

How lucky are they to have seen the first episode already!!! interesting but
Spoiler
what do they mean Hal is like an "Anne Ricey vampire" and is this a good thing?!!! exciting to have a name for the first episode!! :D
Spoiler
Hmm, I haven't read her books but I have seen the film Interview With The Vampire, and what I think they mean is that Hal is a bit like Louis because they both hate being a vampire and are very wretched with guilt because they killed so many people.
Edit: Oh wait, it says that he is more Anne Ricey than Mitchell, and Mitchell is like the most guilt-wreched angsty vampire ever, so I don't think that's what they mean... It also says 'in the flashbacks'... So maybe they mean that he was a bit aristocratic and posh, while still being a very dangerous vampire, a bit like Lestat maybe? I think that's what they mean.

By 'Anne Ricey' vampire I think what they're implying is that he's a little bit eccentric, a little bit ponytailed, a little bit tortured and a little bit flouncy of speech. I've read a few Anne Rice books in my time (we're going back years) and they're a lot more aristocratic and dramatic than what we've seen before in Being Human. I'd expect Hal is going to be well dressed, neat, well spoken and (dare I say) ever so slightly homoerotic.

Oooh..that line caught my attention too HalGal - enjoyed your takes on it Lau and Rougesang.
Have to say - and this is not a spoiler out of context - that I think Hal is far more angsty than Mitchell ever was..so many years or remorse so much weight to carry, there is far more tension with his character as when we first meet him in series 4, he has been separated from the world for years and years and the polarity between who he could become ad who he tried to remain being is so much wider and more extreme!
