Brilliant to see his name among the others at last! He is a tease, not letting you know Domino.

Yay! thanks to Tom Riley!

I am in the same position as the rest of you when it comes to Damien's work projects pearl, but we as a team have suspected this one for a while.. it is just so good to have it 'confirmed' albeit not officially.

Damien seems to have his hands tied much of the time when it comes to talking about his work, but when it is already known about, that is slightly baffling.

Oh lookie who has his name on the 'Kill Your Friends' IMDb page cast list! No character details yet, nor for Joseph Mawle. Having now read the book, I am having fun trying to guess! From the below, I am guessing Hastings, Ross or Leamington!

Trellick - legal, blond, tall toff (doesnt fit the physical spec)

Ross - head of marketing 30s (possible)

Leamington - A&R man at Virgin (possible)

Ladbroke -  very minornot much known about him, but he was present at a dance scene where air guitar was played! (possible)

Rob Hastings - A&R man works with Stelfox , thin, scruffy, stoner (possible)

Schneider - Head of A&R, Hastings & Stelfox boss (described as jewish version of Trellick) (older - may not fit the spec, could this be Jospeh Mawle?)

Finally! I was looking forward to this film being made before we knew Damien had a role & now I really can't wait.
Having re-read the book to play "Hunt the Damo role" I'm wondering if Mr M could have found himself another detective role. Alan Woodham, the investigating officer/wannabe rockstar could be a fit.

Edward Hogg is playing Woodham Becca... and I imagine that character as a lot older than Damo. My guesses are as above.

Ah, yes. Didn't spot that. Just remember reading the character as being a couple of years older than Stelfox.

I am still guessing Hastings, Ross or Leamington!

according to Tom Riley (who plays Stelfox's arch enemy, Parker-Hall) Damo's character has the best hair! lol!

(thanks to Su for asking him on twitter)

killyourfriends-8.jpg

and that they won't be toning it down, as an adaptation from the book! (thanks to your question Becca!)

killyourfriends-9.jpg

so we've seen the sideburns, now we need to reread the book from a haircut perspective! Also, find it hard to believe they won't tone the film down at all... most of what is inside Stelfox's head would never fit on the film classification scale, even an R! I can imagine they will keep the diaologue the language the plot points but some specifics of the plot? no!

It is very satisfying to see Damien's name in that IMDB cast list!  I seems a bit odd that him and Joseph mawle are listed without characters, though?  Agree that Joseph Mawle would suit Schneider.  Been thinking of Leamington or Hastings for Damien myself......those sideburns say Hastings to me - but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

When you consider it was months before we knew what his role was in Ripper St (aside from tiger aspect's confirmation to the forum, it was months before there was any official confirmation at all!) I guess it could be a while before we know for sure......

And I haven't really done this yet so.....coolbounce

Hmm... wouldnt get too excited about Damien's name on imdb ....anyone can add info (ahem)...

funny you should say that Nana, I re read the book yesterday looking for haircuts!

Trellick has blond hair, I am beginning to wonder about Damo for Schneider....he has dark slick backed hair...Hastings comes over as a scruffy dude, but maybe Tom Riley meant best haircut as in most amazingly messy and unctuous as we know Damo's can be! or maybe we shouldnt read too much into the hair comment at all! lol!

fifi.. after I created a whole new section for the film the other day, I had a moment of realsiation that now filming is over.. it could be months before we hear anything more!

but at least we know for sure Damien is in it (even without official confirmation!)
IN A FILM FIFI... IN A BLOODY FILM!!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't read too much into Tom Riley's hair comment.  He was being quite cheeky during that whole exchange.  I trolled through his Q&A comments - he's hilarious!

Must admit that Tom Riley's comment that it hasn't been toned down does make me wonder if he has actually read the book....

Good to know more of us are reading the book, now we can all have a goof guess at which character Damien will be playing.

Glofigs, Stelfox really is a piece of work... imagine being inside his head! that is what the experience of the book is like...i do wonder if the film will be narrated from his point of view like the book or if it will be more of an outside looking in thing. the book is more intense becasue of it, but not sure you could translate all that inner debauchery onto the screen!

Interesting that there is still no Schnieder, Hastings or Leamington...

Does anyone know how the order of the cast organised? Or is it totally random?

Yup..those are amongst my guesses for Damien's character fifi!

On IMDb cast lists are arranged by their 'starometer' which I assume is is based on how famous / popular the actor is. But, any contributor can submit and order of casting, usually only accepted after the work is out and based on the offically order of cast for that project. Important to remember there is nothing official about imdb filmographies, but they have a good rep and are usually quuite accurate.

I just finished this book.  I used the text-to-speech on the kindle to have it read to me, not like a proper audiobook, but that robotic voice that gets things wrong all the time.  mmmm... was said m-m-m-m.  oi was o-i.  yeah was read yay.  It added a whole level of entertainment! LOL

Actually the whole book was a bit of a head fuck (pardon my language)  At times my stomach roiled and I thought I couldn't continue, at other times I was giggling madly.  I have to be honest, if it weren't for the Damo connection I wouldn't have bothered with the book and would have said no thank you to the movie.  But by the end I have now this morbid fascination at seeing it all play out on the big screen.

I agree with the Tom Riley comments.  Either he didn't actually read the book or he's stringing us along.  They HAVE to tone it down.  Though they could have a theatrical release and a director's cut in mind...

As for roles, I doubt Schnieder.  I would guess Joseph Mawle for him, and there is another guy in the photo of the group going to Cannes that could be Schnieder.  Hastings is thin, nervous looking, bucktoothed.  For some reason I can't remember what Leamington does/what his description is.  Damo doesn't have the hair color or baritone voice, but what about Trellick?  He's there for several nighclub scenes and he's got the looks.

Sure wish they'd just announce the rest of the cast.  Is there a release date yet?

I'm wondering if it will premiere at the London Film Festival. November if I recall correctly. Unless they're aiming for a summer release? I'm just making stuff up here.

Glad you've read the book now Whimsy, I thought it was just me (with a flu fever) who had that reaction!
The book is brave, probably repeating myself here but especially as it is written from Stelfox's perspective, it is hard to connect with such a nasty character with zero redeeming features, so the humour is a MUST!

Yes, how on earth can they include ALL of the inner dialogue and have it show on cinema screens? haha!
But Tom Riley is sticking to his story that they are not toning it down and he says it is very dark... check out this interview at the 3.46 mark:

Josep Mawle was my first choice for Schneider but as Damien's appearance doesn't fit any of the other possibles (trellick is tall and blonde) I'm keeping my options open, Hastings is possibly first guess though.. of course it could be a very minor character we've not thought of too.

Good thinking UJ, it would be exciting if it had a film fest premiere. I read a release date of 2015 somewhere...but that could be wrong. The London Film fest is October 8-19 this year, definitely better timing than Cannes! action
