No problem Glofigs It is not something we'd considered before so you've prompted an important thing!
So guys....from now on in this topic, talking about the characters and the rough overview and tone of the book is fine, but perhaps plot details such as the above can be treated as spoilers. Especially as not everyone will have read the book (or choose not to) before the film comes out.
I just finished it this week. I have to say if D wasn't going to be in the movie I wouldn't have picked it up. Hated it. Not a single likable character.

My all time fave Hal line (just love the way he says it)
"We've been played! My God! We've been played!"
"Annie's getting hysterical downstairs and I'm not enjoying it"
"kill me. Kill me now. You can tell Annie that I attacked you or something"
"“Were you guys talking about me? I heard ‘clearly gorgeous’”
IMDB has a long list now, but most of who they've added are extras. Ugh!
I'm still not sure. Really not very many characters left that aren't already officially announced, and it seems that of the ones left he doesn't quite fit the bill for any. I still say Trellick is my #1 choice, if he's going to have any substantial screentime. Glo, you mentioned Dunn, and for the life of me I can't remember which one he is!
I AM fairly certain he doesn't die though...

Interesting, again Damien doesn't fit the character description for Dunn, who is described as a big guy, balding, broad Geordie.....
Agree Glofigs, it is hard to 'like' and even engage with anti heroes who are given zero redeeming features, but perhaps on screen the humour will come across and they will ramp up the charm levels!
Hastings is likeable in the sense that he is kind of a victim to Stelfox's nastiness and seems harmless enough.
The most exciting addition to the Kill Your Friends cast list on imdb, is Rosanna Arquette! Apparently she is playing Barbara.... but I cannot remember a Barbara in the book?
Rosanna Arquette? That's quite a serious addition and may help its US release. Weird that Damien's part hasn't been updated though.
that's why I ws excited to see her name there, but I really cannot recall any Barbara in the novel... and this is imdb, not official, anyone can add to the castings list...
No. He would have made a good cop (again!), the cop shows up a few times and Oh My God that last scene the cop is involved in... However, DC Woodham is being played by a guy named Edward Hogg.
domino, if memory serves, Barbara is
Spoiler
the producer they have dinner with that Stelfox insults. Well he insults women in general, saying something about women treated differently in the music industry as they age is justified because basically women become old hags no one wants to fuck. I'm not sure how much of that was in his head or said out loud... LOL

Thanks Whimsy, oddly though, when i search my kindle copy there is no mention of a Barbara, I will read again!
frustrating lack of info on this film, have seen interviews with Nicholas Hoult, James Corden and Craig Roberts recently. none of them mentioned the film!
Still no news which part Damien is going to play? I think we will only know when movie comes out :D Btw, when is this movie going to get released? Was there any date?
The first promo pic from Kill Your Friends has been released, and a promo will be screened today at Cannes film festival!

UJ - that's a very good point....there are a lot of characters in the book and it's quite possible that some of them could be mashed together. It's also worth remembering that characters in screen adaptations don't necessarily have the physical attributes that they have in the book (anyone else remember Sandra Dickinson as Trillian in the TV version of Hitchhiker's Guide....?!)
It seems odd that the long list on IMDB doesn't include most of the names which we've mentioned!
