Suspects is definitely not coming in the first 2 weeks of August, tv schedules show.
According to the rationale in my last post, only the week beginning 18 Aug would work for all he other ates to fit in, but the dvd date could be changed... and Justine Barker was only working on the soundtrack this week....
this article from Digital Spy mentions "late August, exact TX to be confirmed" which tells us nothing new except our speculation is on the right track!
With all this in mind.. I am reckoning on that S2 trailer very soon...
Since we dished on Wentworth Prison last week, let's turn our attention to Suspects - Channel 5's mostly-improvised drama that could've been a disaster, but turned out to be one of the best new cop shows in ages.
DI Martha Bellamy (Fay Ripley), DS Jack Weston (Damien Molony) and DC Charlie Steele (Clare-Hope Ashitey) will all be back in late August - exact TX to be confirmed, but hopefully that'll hold you over for a little while!
This article from TVRage cannot be correct surely?!
"the second series of four episodes will be airing over two weeks this August"?
'Suspects' Season 2 Airdate Confirmed
Fans of Channel 5's original drama, 'Suspects' will be please to hear that the second series of four episodes will be airing over two weeks this August. Launching earlier this year 'Suspects', Fay Ripley, Damien Molony and Clare-Hope Ashitey will all reprise their roles in the show, alongside a huge group of UK talent appearing in guest roles.
I agree Jane! I will be severely disappointed if there are only 4eps in s2!!
I can kinda understand having the 2 halves of a 'special' being broadcast in one week over 2 consecutive nights - it's not a particularly unusual thing to happen. But this is just baffling and bemusing! It seems like every article is giving a different version of what s2 is going to be.
It almost makes me start doubting if it will even start airing in August!!
Hi guys, I kind of regret posting that article because it just doesn't sound right, I have asked for confirmation but as yet not heard back. I think it is incorrect.
The facts remain that there were already 5 remaining episodes previously recorded, before filming started over the summer... and Digital Spy said 7 new episodes were filmed this time.
SO.... we can conclude that there will be more than 4 episodes in Series 2!
After months of excited anticipation, we are finally able to reveal the UK airdate forSuspectsSeries 2 – the critically acclaimed crime drama will premiere with an exciting2-part specialairing 10 pm Wednesday 20 August and 10pm Thursday 21 August on Channel 5.
The new series kicks off with a gripping new case for DS Jack Weston (Damien), DI Martha Bellamy (Fay Ripley) and DC Charlie Steele (Claire-Hope Ashitey) and introduces a host of new suspects, played by top UK soap and drama talent including Charlie Brooks (Eastenders, I’m A Celebrity), Dominic Power (Emmerdale, The Bill), Claire Cooper (Hollyoaks), Katie Jarvis (Fish Tank) and Luke Newberry (In The Flesh).
Check out the synopsis below.
This two part special opens with barrister Jonathan Moxton found naked, tied up and covered in blood – it looks like a sex game has gone very wrong indeed. DI Martha Bellamy (Fay Ripley) and her team, DS Jack Weston (Damien Molony) and DC Charlotte ‘Charlie’ Steele (Clare-Hope Ashitey) soon suspect that it was actually a premeditated attack. Who hit Jonathan with a hammer? And why is DS Jack Weston so rattled by this case?
Soon falling under suspicion are Jonathan’s dutiful and respectable wife, Tanya Moxton (Charlie Brooks), paranoid schizophrenic Saul Hammond (Dominic Power) and Saul’s appropriate adult Sadie Burns (Katie Jarvis). Uncovering more of Jonathan’s secrets leads the team to Nate Turner (Luke Newberry). When a second man is found battered with a hammer, Martha, Jack and Charlie are horrified – this time the attack is fatal. Is Saul Hammond – whom they let out on bail – responsible for both attacks? As the investigation unfolds, drug-user Carol Collins (Claire Cooper) also comes under the spotlight. The team must catch this serial offender before they strike again.
First glimpses of series 2 footage have also debuted in a‘New Drama’ trailerfor the channel, alongside other upcoming shows.

Fantastic new pic! Typical that I am going to be away that week so I won't get to watch it as it goes out :( I'll have to be patient and watch it when I get back!
Sassy Jack will be back! Oh I can't wait! And I love the new look of his!
I actually jumped in my chair when I read this

Anyone else hearing I'm Too Sexy by Right Said Fred in their heads? That's a nice catwalk look he's got going on there!

So, I'm going to guess that they are keeping it to #WestonWednesday
Further extrapolation... if the S1 & S2 DVD release date of Sept 29th is still correct, they have 6 Wednesdays they can air episodes right up until that release date. With the bonus 2-parter, that could be up to 7 episodes. However, I'm not sure they would do that many since it would leave only 5 for S3. So my guess is still 6 for S2 (the two-parter plus 5 more) and 6 for S3.

I'm on holiday that week with my family, so unless there's a spare TV in the house somewhere, i think i'll be catching up with those episodes when i get back but yay, back in two weeks!!
Considering this is what I was expecting it's still excellent news! A double dose of damo only 2 weeks away! That picture really does urm.....whet the appetite too.......
And I optimistically agree entirely with whimsy's assessment for the rest of the series.
Had a dream last night that I was watching a completely new episode of Suspects including loads of Jack sass. Can I remember any of it now I am awake? Of course not!
It looks like series 2 is going to be just the 2 specials, then.......which probably does mean only 2 weeks! And I might actually be away on holiday for both of them - which is frustrating to say the least!
I guess that means that's all they filmed in June - 4eps in 5 weeks does sound more realistic (but is still pretty good going!) - and s3 will be the remaining 5 unaired eps which were recorded for s1.
The Radio Times listings for Series 2 so far show episode 1/4 and episode 2/4... which suggests Series 2 will be only 4 episodes long. TV listings have been known to be incorrect before though, so we shall await official confirmation of that.
Meanwhile, the synopsis and cast lists are up for the 2 part special!
Pearl, yes there were 5 remaining episodes already filmed and as yet unaired, and more filmed over the summer. As yet we have absolutely no idea what Channel 5's plans are for those episodes, but we do know there will be a series 3!
