Gogan [Jane Gogan, RTÉ Head of Drama] was full of praise for Clean Break writer Billy Roche, a playwright marking his TV debut, saying his four-parter demonstrates “a strong sense of empathy and an insight into human frailty”, while also being, you know, entertaining. “It’s actually quite good,” a senior RTÉ executive assured The Irish Times.
Totally! and knowing Damien did it all in cerise socks is an added bonus! I hope the whole drama panel / interviews will be made available by RTÉ!
I was thinking that too! - about rte i mean, not the socks. Although, now you come to mention it......
I'm guessing it was a press thing to launch rte's new season, so presumably we'll get to hear more of it. Looks like rte are going go give it some proper promotion in any case....so I'm looking foward to lots more goodies!

Totally agree fifi, delighted about yesterday, what an awesome surprise! I am feeling super grateful... Good job RTÉ !!!
The buzz is exciting. Promo is coming very early, so I hope that means lots of goodies between now and airdate.

YOU MAY BE busy mourning summer 2015 (RIP), but the arrival of autumn does mean that a rake of new television shows are on the way.
Here are 13 to keep an eye out for this autumn.
1. Clean Break
Source: Bernard Walsh/RTÉ
Premiere date: 27th September, RTÉ One
Clean Break aims to fill the Love/Hate-shaped hole in your life. The drama, set in Wexford, follows the consequences of a tiger kidnapping gone wrong and looks very slick.
Give this trailer a gander and we guarantee you’ll get excited.
This week's entertainment.ie's TV podcast The Guide takes a look at some of the good, the bad, and downright cringeworthy of the shows heading to RTE1, RTE2 and TV3 this autumn.
We chat about the upcoming new four-part drama series Clean Break that's coming soon to RTE1 from the makers of Love/Hate, as well as the much anticipated Ray Darcy Show.
The lack of enthusiasm for tv in general in regards to RTE makes me wonder about the overall quality of programming. Are they used to mediocre television?
Clean Break won't be mediocre, not with all of the great talent involved in it!

Hmm.. not sure I agree there is a lack of enthusiasm in general.. the previous 2 links I posted were highly enthusiastic about Clean Break and RTÉ's 'Love/Hate' was massive!
It's good that it's getting talked about....and it's good that it's drawing so many comparisons to Love/Hate - makes me optimistic that it will make it onto the RTE player....and dvd....and maybe even onto the BBC!
Another article on the Clean Break launch, this one from the Irish Independent , no DaMo but Billy Roche's words gives me hope re international audiences !
Roche said the screenplay has been four or five years in the making, and that it will be a marked change to other crime series.
"The characters are more important than the crime to me, and I think that's what will stand to it," he said.
Roche added that he hoped that the show could introduce audiences abroad to Irish productions.
"I think it's about time we reach out and sell our goods abroad. We've lots of talent here - writers, actors, directors, everything. It's all here," he said.
"We haven't managed to do it yet, but I'm hoping that 'Clean Break' will be the one to bring it to the world and carve a way."
Nothing we haven't already heard in this Wexford People article, but interviews scheduled for Friday. Crossing fingers Damien is in the lineup!
RTE's 'Nationwide' will also feature interviews with some of the cast and Billy himself in its show on Friday night in the lead up to Sunday night's first episode.
