Well, we all know who will be making the tea in the office...

Ooo...this is good! I think that a few more regulars is potentially just what suspects needs....some more characters to bounce off, and shake things up a bit. I guess it also takes some of the filming pressure off damien and claire..... and really looking forward to seeing Lenora in this!! A trainee dc - that'll be interesting too - it all actually leads to all sorts of new possibilities. It also shows some sort of confidence in the format of the show, ..a commitment to delvelop it further - if that makes sense......
We'd pretty much guessed that Fay wasn't going to be in s5, but I must admit that I'm really disappointed that the new dci is a man! I loved that 2 of the 3 main characters were women, and that she was the boss....it was refreshing!
DCI is Detective Chief Inspector and DI is Detective Inspector - so the new DCI role is not necessarily a replacement for DI Martha. The lack of Fay Ripley in the cast list brings sadness to my heart, but the ommission of a new DI ranking gives me hope, maybe she is on temporary leave? I think this may be wishful thinking though, with 'Cold Feet' coming back Fay may be rather busy!
I was so wrapped up in the new DS, that I had almost overlooked the new TDC.. agree fifi, a larger team does suggest confidence in the future of Suspects!
This is just all so exciting! It's going to be so different with so many more of "the good guys". So many possibilities now.

Oh yes domino! I hadn't registered the DI/DCI discrepancy. Interesting that there's apparently no DI....
I have no idea how a CID team works (!) - would you have 2 DSs on the same team? Or does this potentially mean that we will have CID team 1 and CID team 2?
Rosie - I somehow don't anticipate that Jack will be as sassy with the new DCI as he was with Martha, but I can see plenty of opportunity for Jack sass with the new DS Alisha Brooks (or Alisa Brookes, if Lenora's agency are to be believed!)
I'm holding on to the fact there is no DI... room for Martha to return and be on leave or something...
Like you all I am enjoying wondering about the team dynamic, as you say Rosie, will he be able to Jack Sass the new DCI.. I really love that banter between Martha and Jack though and will miss it. But the new expanded cast opens up all kinds of possibilities for team relations... tensions.. humour... and also new working relationships, DS Alisha and Jack are on the same rank level, so who will Charlie be mentored by? and the new Trainee DC, will Charlie be his boss?
(Anyone else thinking what if one of the DS's gets a promotion to DI?!?!?! or they have to compete for promotion?!?!)
It is usual in larger stations, such as I think Jack's is, for a DCI to be in charge of several DIs, DSs and DCs, but the teams tend to work on different cases, only combining for something big - and even then someone is in overall charge. Strictly speaking, Charlie should remain with Jack but it looks as though with Faye not being in the dynamic of the team is changing, so anything is possible. I only hope we get to see as much of Jack as we are getting now and it's not a move over to another team too often.
I love Suspects and over time my favourite Damien character has changed from Hal to Jack -I even love his beard.
Looking back to this post with the castings so far for Series 5, there is a 'news cameraman' in both episodes 4 and 5, I find this exciting and intriguing! Maybe he is a new semi-regular character who lurks around trying to get shots of things (perhaps a bit too 'Nightcrawler' but I love a bit of neo-noir..) or maybe that will be a two part story?
Very excited to have this official confirmation of series 5 albeit Anyone notice the clips they used, although not new, only contained Jack and Charlie?
Ooooo! That is interesting. His pic does make it look like he's a suspect..... Makes me wonder if series 5 is going to be a bit less 'stand alone' eps, and a bit more series arched. Having more detectives did make me wonder whether they would be working on more than one case at a time (ie, running more than one story simultaneously) But it would be a pretty amazing feat if they could run a story across a whole series! (although I do kinda like the idea)
I'm really looking forward to this new series of Suspects. It looks very much as if they've pre-empted the feeling that the programme was starting to get bit formulaic...a bit predictable - and have shaken things up quite a lot!
I know Neil Stuke has been in loads of things....and I do watch Silent Witness from time to time - but I always think of Game On when I see him (anyone remember Game On?!)...and then as the boss in Martin Clunes Reggie Perrin remake. So I tend to think of him in comedy roles....and I'm guessing this won't be very funny!
