Our first glimpse of Damien in Kill Your Friends has finally arrived, in a new Trailer released today.
He is playing Ross in the film, which is set in the music industry in the late 90s, and his look is every bit the Britpop era.
Damien appears in the new trailer alongside a stellar line-up of talent including Nic Hoult, James Corden, Georgia King, Tom Riley and two of his former co-stars, Craig Roberts (Being Human) and Joseph Mawle (Ripper Street).
These initial Kill Your Friends glimpses give an exciting first look at the satirical nature of the “jet-black comedy”, as well as the sex and drug-fuelled world where it is set.Kill Your Friends is currently showing in cinemas across Germany at Fantasy Filmfest (5 August – 4 September and has also recently been announced for the Zurich Film Festival(24 September – 4 October) and Toronto International Film Festival (10 – 20 September).
Kill Your Friends is directed by Owen Harris, produced by Gregor Cameron (UNIGRAM), Will Clarke (Altitude Film Entertainment) and Len Blavatnik (AI Film and Warner Music Group) and will be released in the UK and Ireland 6 November 2015 by STUDIOCANAL.
This looks SOOO much better than I hoped for. The trailer paints the events in a very comedic light, which didn't come through as much in my reading. Spotted Damien 3 times. Or at least I think 3 times. The blurry dancing one kinda hard to tell. Took some screenshots. The hair/track suit combo is a bit of a surprise. I must not have paid as much attention to descriptions as I thought.

Fantastic! It looks like everything I hoped it would be - and then some! I was kind of prepared for the disappointment of not actually seeing Damien in the trailer.......BUT HE IS!!! I may be a little over excited....
I'm doing cartwheels in my head! I hope he's comic relief, at least in some scenes. God, I love comic relief! And the hair! I have to say, I pity the poor costume people who had to wrangle Damien's wild waves into a straight shape. Hilarious!

Anyone else playing this trailer over and over again? and pausing? The whole things is just sinking in for me! Thrilling to see so much Damo in the trailer! and the way he looks! that expression in the first part! the whole thing looks just AMAZING!
I was thinking the same thing Pearl! He appears to be the one person in the whole trailer who is totally rocking the britpop hair stylee!
For those who were not around in the 90s or not familiar with the Britpop look:
I may have watched it a few times.... And I'm obviously not the only one who has gone through it frame by frame - it made me laugh when I saw all the sreencaps appearing so quickly yesterday!
The thought has only just occured to me that I might see this trailer at the cinema! On the big screen!! I might squeal a little if that happens......
I loved the 90s! The best decade of my life....so far
If I saw the trailer at the cinema I would definitely be looking at the audience to see if there were any Molonians squeeing !
The 90s are quite nostalgic for me because I was at university in the Britpop era so the music brings back lots of memories. I probably fancied lots of boys with hair like Ross !
I was totally removed from the Britpop scene or the music scene in general during the '90's. It was a very busy decade for me, but music wasn't much of a part of it. I think universal themes in the film will keep me engaged without knowing the musical details from that era.
On another note, I absolutely adore Damien's hair at the length he had it for the reading he did while filming KYF. It's one of my favorite looks on him. The little tuft sticking up from his crown makes me happy. Thick, wavy, unruly--oh yes!

it is thrilling to see this new look on a new character!
And can we just talk about that face Ross pulls in his first appearance in the trailer?!?! It is such a cliff hanger!
Damien's versatility is amazing! He definitely isn't one of those actors who always looks like himself. And that face, yes! I have high hopes for Ross to be a very entertaining part of the film.

As someone who was pretty obsessed with Britpop first time around (and *cough* still is - some of my friends run occasional 90's indie club nights), I'd be excited for this film anyway. Counting the days!!!
