The early sneak peek gives an intriguing glimpse of Damien Molony as Danny Dempsey with co-star Amybeth McNulty as Jenny Rane holding a box full of trophies.
We’ve no idea what is going on (and even if we did we wouldn’t tell you..) but perhaps the scene could be something to do with Danny’s boxing background as revealed by Damien in a recent RTÉ interview. Apparently he is “in the kids eyes in the village, something of a legend.”
The Episode 1 official synopsis is below.
Drama following the ambitious residents of a Wexford community as they strive for love, status and revenge. Frank Mallon faces losing everything – his wife has left him, his daughter is out of control and the bank are about to repossess his home and his business. He takes desperate measures to resolve the crisis, but only ends up making matters worse.
Damien and his young Clean Break co-star Amybeth both attended the RTÉ new season launch in August, interviewed by The Late Late Show host Ryan Tubridy.
What else can we expect from the first episode of the new RTÉ drama?
Clean Break may be set in a small town but is also set to deliver big drama. The latest trailer teases an unfolding, tense, thrilling and character-focussed story. Plus an angsty Damien Molony in a waistcoat, with a strong Irish accent. Need we say more?
Clean Break is written by Billy Roche (The Eclipse), directed by Gillies MacKinnon (Behind the Lines) and Damien O’Donnell (East is East) and produced by Octagon Films and 152 Productions. Damien will be appearing as Danny Dempsey alongside Kelly Thornton, Adam Fergus, Aidan McArdle, Simone Kirby, Dermot Murphy, Amybeth McNulty, Ned Dennehy and Sean McGinley 9.30pm 27 September on RTÉ One.
Same jumper? Really? Hmm.. I wonder how much these actors use their own clothes in this drama... And how much is given to them...
I remember in one of Aidan Turner BH interview where he told he's going to take one of Mitchell's shirt with him, cause he's going to miss the character and the show, and he likes the shirt, and it's not like anyone is going to stop him
If there's ever going to be fan question time with Damien (I would love if he could do these in twitter!) somebody has to ask him has he ever take any props from shows he has been with him after they ended, of was some perhaps given to him. I wanna know what and why
Grateful to RTÉ Press for the photo! It is always a real treat to have an exclusive one and this has its intrigue!

Is Jenny giving Danny the box of trophies or Danny giving them to her ?
Exactly the question on my mind Rosie! And are we to assume they are Danny's boxing trophies? I also see a kindness in Danny ...The way he crouches down to speak to Jenny.. I am also reminded of how Damien said in the RTE interview that he was a legend with the kids even if he was disgraced in the town.

A bit off topic Jozie but in a Being Human Q & A (which you can read and maybe comment on here) Damien said from BH he was given the ‘Show No Mercy’poster from Series 4, Hal’s domino, a set of house-keys and a pool-cue.

I meant the grey jumper he is wearing in the interview rather than the jumper in the show itself. Wasn't the blue warm coat Damien was wearing in between scenes while filming Clean Break the same one he had for between scenes in Suspects ?
