Well, I haven't seen Clean Break and totally gave up with Suspects so thought I'd nip in, keep an eye on you all. Make sure you're behaving
what's the fun in that?!
(I predict Suspects S5 will peak your interest once again)

Happy to to see all the Crashing comments here! Thank you to everyone who has voted in the poll so far, it looks like a majority win for the series premiere!
Lovely to read you less frequent posters here Lisa and Mikey! Hello!
Sorry to hear about your cold fifi - glad you had some Molony magic as medicine last night and that you like the gifs .. feel better soon.
Agree with what everyone is saying about the episode length... it felt like we could have had a bit more time with these new characters while they are being established in the series opener. But at the same time, there was more than enough there to get me interested.. especially the whole love triangle story, lots of chemistry and tension there.
It's a light and funny comedy but there's drama quality there too... and I know I keep harping on about this but the setting is fantastic, more than a backdrop for the storyline, it lives and breathes through every scene!
Also loving Susan Wokoma whimsy, you should check out E4#s Chewing Gum! I hope we see much more of her in the series.
Mikey, I have a bit of a girl crush on Phoebe Waller-Bridge so the combo of her and DaMo is working for me!
Yes I thought it could've done with being longer. Recognised two Broadchurch alum in there (Sam and Lulu- Ollie and QC assistant whose name I've forgotten respectively)
It was lovely to see those Damo smiles, I think there were more of them in that episode than all his previous to projects combined. And the ukulele spanking bit was funny also.
Overnight ratings are in at 0.5 million.
(Will try to visit more often in the future Domino :) )
Watched it twice so far, loved it first time but it was even better second time round. Should have been an hour, but quite honestly I can see this series running and running. Love Lulu and Anthony, the way they both tell the truth then say it was a joke just in case they are rejected by the other must apply to so many couples.
I am glad it is only half an hour. Just the right length for me. I agree about his eyes, they positively sparkle at some times! I think I am going to enjoy it. The Telegraph gave it two stars out of five but say that the next episode is much better and the show seems to have settled down a bit.
I saw lots of BH in Crashing.. and lots of Hal, or possibly Damo expressions we've not seen since Hal!
Normally love the Metro, and while I agree twitter opinion was split, as you said too Mikey, the headline in their Crashing review "left viewers dispairing at the state of TV comedy" is misleading and totally untrue!! The final sentence is alright though
"Thank God for Damien Molony: making comedy bearable since 2016."
Even if they did get the date wrong.. its been since 2012.. and knicked my screencaps!
p.s Mikey.... any poss you can you make Jenna Coleman a bit smaller? she's a bit overpowering this topic and you are kinda breaking the house rules! thank you x

Consider her gone. She has faced the Domino Raven!

The confused Anthony pic (when he's sitting on the bed) is very Hal-like don't you think? And oh Lord that smile!!!
I couldn't pin down his accent incidentally could you? It sounded 'London' in one part but his natural accent kept bleeding through or was it just his natural accent and i'm just really used to it? I have no clue.
And i even loved his messy hair, i think because it was shorter and messy, not how it's been like in 'Suspects' where it looked like it desperately needed a trim. And yes to the scruff too.. win win. And of course his eyes, I can't tear my eyes away from them on screen.

I absolutely loved that..... I need more... cant wait till next episode. is it just me who ships Lulu and Anthony because those two are beautilful together.. I mean #friendzoned poor them... I also like sam and fred.. I think they might get together but I donbt know?!
Yes Lisa! and the mock anger! It sounded like DaMo's natural accent, to my ears.
Damien's performance as Anthony in last night's ep very much had his hallmark expressivity.. eyes, face.. everything.. lol. I'm biased but for me his performance is what put the 'drama' in the comedy drama. Not in the flamboyant sense, but his scenes with Phoebe W-B (who was also brilliant, if a tad out-shone by Damien) added depth and weight and lots of other lovely tones amongst the lightness and glorious frivolity of the comedy.
Shownomercy, part of me wants to see Anthony and Lulu together because of their incredible chemistry and obvious feelings for each other but the larger part of me does not, first because the tension between them is delicious and seems to be the core of the story, and is magnetic to watch, and fun! Second, it would make Anthony a total prick to Kate - they are engaged after all! Unless of course something happens between Anthony and Kate first.. And, it does look like their relationship is not on as solid footing as they both perhaps thought so perhaps Lulu's appearance highlights that and is a blessing in disguise... maybe Kate ends up with Sam and Anthony is left all alone!! Kidding, it does look like Sam and Fred are heading into something, hopefully not plain sailing for them though either, oh the drama!
It was the drama and the relationships between the characters which I found most engaging about this.
It's the drama and the relationships that elevate it from being just a collection of caricatures. Otherwise it's just over the top silliness that wouldn't keep the attention for long.
I agree that part of what made it good last night is the unrequited tension between Lulu and Anthony. And the hints that both feel the same but hide it. That needs to build up more. Resolution too quickly would water down the show. Plus, as you said domino, then he'd be a total prick!
His accent sounded 100% lovely natural Irish to me.

I'm glad that you all enjoyed this but I have to say that it did nothing to grab my attention and were it not for Damien there would be little to entice me back for episode two.
I accept that this episode was an introduction so tried to show a bit of each character whilst setting the scene for the series to come but it still felt too rushed. I found something annoying about nearly every character, surprising the least annoying was perhaps Sam who was 'supposed to be a twat' but even he felt like a bit of an empty caricature.
My main grumble is with Lulu who just seemed to be trying too hard to be quirky and fun but for me came across as stupid, selfish and very annoying.
Reviews do say that it gets better so I will watch next week and my initial assessment could be proved wrong but sad to say I wont be holding my breath.

All day at work all I could think about was coming home to watch the episode again LOL
I really enjoyed it and I'm sure there are so many things I missed since it went so fast. I can see myself watching this many times before next week... this could be a problem ;)
Also, I love when Lulu shows up and Anthony freaks out and says "Look at your stupid face!" and then she says to Kate "What are you doing with this shit bag?" I think they are cute together, but I feel the same as you guys that the tension is very important and if he left Kate like that he would be a jerk. Looking forward to seeing how everything plays out.

My view on the triangle is different from a few of you. Better a broken engagement than an unhappy marriage, but you know he could eventually decide that rather seeing an echo of Lulu in Kate, it was the other way round and his true love is Kate. But I think that whatever the outcome (Anthony and Lulu for me) it should take many, many series to resolve!
So many series run for years with the will they/won't they thing. As much as I am a total shipper it always seems to lose something when the will they/won't they couple get together.
May have watched this episode a number of times now... the more i watch the more I love all these messy characters. Each of them are brill in their own unique ways.
*no Jenna Coleman is not in Crashing but Mikey can dream! :P
