You have to wonder how many takes those hilarious scenes around the table took!! How could you keep a straight face with Kate singing the 'orgasm song'!
I couldn't work out what Anthony said when he told Lulu not to have sex with Sam. Did he say I don't want to catch something or I don't want you to catch something?
"I don't want him to catch something."
Anthony was being very deliberately mean to her. And I have to agree, he really was scary for a minute. Damien's anger felt very real. Scarier than Hal.
Lulu needs shut up and grow up! She really annoyed me. So did Sam. Both of them are such attention hogs and gang up on everyone else. And why is everyone confiding their sexual problems with her? To use Anthony's words "she's a teenage boy, she's no help".
Go Fred! And go Melody and Colin! The only sensible people. Actually I think Anthony was reasonably sensible. He tried to get them under control as well. He's just stuck in the middle.
Kate is a victim of her insecurities. She lets them all get to her.
I can't honestly point out a favorite scene, quote, moment. The entire table scene, Anthony's confusing convo with Sam, the crying sex... it was all so unexpected, so inappropriate yet relevant, and so freaking well done by all of them. Kudos to the writing and acting in Crashing!
I almost feel like I need a bath now...

I was so annoyed with Lulu for blurting out something Anthony told her in confidence but in a way admire her honesty (even if it wasn't her place) but she also seems a bit lost and trying to be something she is not.. she was hurt when Anthony was mean to her ( and that was mean..) and I felt sorry for her in that moment. Anthony is trying to control everything but when he was pounding at the bathroom door it was just a little unhinged and when he spoke to Lulu in the corridor and he pushed her that was like woooah. Lulu and Anthony are almost becoming the two most messed up of all the characters - Sam came across as sensible in comparison! That 'yes','no' scene with Anthony and Sam sums up where Anthony's head seems to be at!
I had very mixed feelings about this episode. First, I was disappointed a bunch of the stuff from the trailer wasn't in this episode. And so much of the stuff going on was uncomfortably awkward, almost to the point of not being funny or entertaining. But the stuff that was good was really good, including some really good character moments...
I'm probably going to have to rewatch it to make up my mind, but rewatching will be hard with all the awkwardness.
I can admire someone's honesty when they are opening up and sharing something about themselves. Anthony shared personal problems with Lulu, because they probabky have always shared things. Kate opened up to Lulu because she's insecure and wanted advice. There was nothing admirable about Lulu blabbing away to the rest of the group about the problems between Kate and Anthony. It was selfish and vindictive. And she's a horrible drunk.

Wow... so awkward!! That episode was truly cringeworthy. I definitely need to re-watch because even though it was very funny in parts, I was so distracted by the awkwardness. I practically had to watch through my fingers I was so uncomfortable LOL
And that crying sex scene! Oh dear God, it was like the icing on the entire awkward uncomfortable cake.
Yikes. No words.
And Lulu is sooooooo annoying. I've officially decided. I can't deal with her.
This is all sounding very negative but it's really not. I enjoy the show very much, and I love a lot of the characters.
Lulu has got a bit annoying and, yes, is a terrible drunk but she is a bit lost. She clearly has feelings for Anthony and is trying to fit in with a load of strangers. That bit where Anthony said "I don't want him to catch anything" was harsh but powerful. Did we get a proper story of my Phoebe just turned up? What was she running from?
Edit: Is it me or does Anthony speak VERY close to people's faces? He had scenes with Sam and Lulu where he did. Perhaps that's his form of intimidation.
Also.. shipping him and Lulu much less now

I couldn't have put it better! But yeah, it was funny ending for the episode, easing a bit this awkward mood I had all the time while watching...
Mikey, yes! Anthony didn't have much of idea of personal space! And I was confused when he was angry to Lulu and giving the hard talk (and being very scary same time) that he will kiss her cause he was so close to her! Even in that screencao domino posted it looks like they're about to kiss!
I agree with you Whimsy, it was quite horrible to me that she didn't respect that Anthony told something personal cause he trusted her, and she made a song about it!!
CrazyClelia, I know! The trailers are very confusing... And misleading if they show funny bits of the show to get people watch it but it's not relevant what's going to happen in next ep.. I wasn't disappointed though, only surprised..
I didn't think this episode was as funny as last week partly because I was cringing so much at the awkwardness of the dinner and partly because there were some genuinely tense dramatic moments.
I'm still Team Kate so far - Lulu was really obnoxious. I'm not sure why she turned on Melody. That was unnecessarily mean. I understand that Anthony doesn't help by sending out confusing signals but he's engaged and Lulu should respect that and be the bigger person.
Stand out moments - Sam and Anthony's confusing conversation in the kitchen, Anthony's crying sex, Fred's boyfriend's adorable song, Anthony being annoyed when Fred's boyfriend puts all the negative energy in the curry.
I love Melody and Colin - I want to be the pain in your painting!
I was almost expecting the fangs to come out when Anthony pushed Lulu against the wall.
I absolutely loved last nights ep.....laughed my socks off all the way through. The front/back garden scene had me in stitches too - it was funny writing, but I've got to say that I think it was the looks that they were all giving each other that sealed the deal!
It was definitely cringeworthy....I often struggle to find things funny when I'm squirming too much for the characters......but I think I dislike all of them just enough for that not to have been a problem (except Fred....Fred it just a complete sweetheart!) - it just made me laugh.....so much!
I think Lulu has totally transcended annoying. I actually think that she is just a complete bitch! She has no boundaries, no respect for other peoples feelings and totally enjoys the chaos that she creates. Although I don't doubt that at some point in the series Phoebe will manage to make me feel more sympathetic towards her.
And it still makes me laugh everytime I think of the crying orgasm scene. I actually can't believe that happened.....I mean - who hasn't enjoyed watching Damo well up......?! Although I think he was struggling not to laugh when they filmed it!
Watched it twice now, loving it.
Found Kate a bit better, but really for someone who is so uptight she seems to have no problems with either telling people off or that they are of a lesser status. Still like Lulu - I noticed that the orgasm comments came after she was told by Kate that she was being racist and just a receptionist, as did the 'bigging up the curry ' remark.
I loved:
seeing Sam being supportive of Colin, it seemed so genuine.
The 'Yeh no' episode between Anthony and Sam
The 'negative energy' being poured into the bowl of curry and the table collapsing immediately.
Lulu trying to pretend the curry was still enjoyable.
Yes, Anthony was quite aggressive towards Lulu, which seemed to shock her as much as it did us - she really seemed upset when he said he didn't want Sam to catch anything by having sex with her. He was quite angry and scary.
Kate said she'd orgasm ed before, just not with Anthony - by herself or with another bloke? The bit where she got him to go on crying and then had an orgasm made me cringe - I wanted to yell 'Run, Anthony, run'. That does not seem to be a healthy relationship at all.
My favourite couple are definitely Melody and Colin, and I loved Fred's boyfriend.
Agree that Lulu is annoying, but as well as being a bit lost there is something tragic about her too. Agree with you Mikey and not just because I fancy the dungarees off her like you do, well maybe a bit.
I actually find Kate hilarious each week.. last week it was the dancing towel scene (HAHA) this week the singing! for me one of the funniest bits.
Just me or is Anthony veering on the slightly psychotic? It's not just the lack of awareness any more, his actions are becoming way over the top!
That final scene.. oh my god.. that balance of the tragedy of it with the outright hilarity!! It's magnetising viewing!
As the series develops you can see how messed up the whole situation is. Anthony and Lulu have their shared history but they would be a disaster together. Lulu's appearance has revealed the cracks in Anthony and Kate's relationship but I wonder if they could be happy if they'd been left to their own devices. I think someone mentioned this the other week about Anthony needing Kate to organise him or something to that affect. I can think of so many of my friends whose relationships are like that too and it seems to work for them.
I was almost expecting the fangs to come out when Anthony pushed Lulu against the wall.
Yes! The whole 'in your face' thing is very Hal...
Lulu very intuitive.....but entirely lacking empathy. Which makes her quite selfish - and I think she's quite manipulative. I'm pretty sure she knows what she's doing. She apparently lent Kate a sympathetic ear, and then totally shat on her! Ok...she was drunk - but not at the beginning when she was was singing 'Kate can't come' for everyone's amusement. That's just mean!! I agree that Lulu is a bit lost - which is why I said that I expect that or later I'll find myself feeling sympathetic towards her. It's interesting that she said in the first ep that (presumably) her boyfriend had 'kicked her out' - not that they'd split up, or she'd left..... Watching Lulu is a bit like watching a car crash in slow motion. The title of the show definitly refers to more than just a temporary place to sleep.... I feel that the only moment we've seen anything genuine from her is when Anthony dared her to kiss him and she said 'I've been trying since we were 14 baby' And she was even pretending to joke then....
I still feel considerably more sympathetic towards Kate - maybe I just relate to her 'uptight'ness more that I relate to Lulu's couldn't give a damn attitude - and I found her less annoying to watch this ep.
But ultimitely I think I agree, domino - I'm not sure that either relationship is particularly healthy....
I still can't quite get over Anthony telling Lulu '...I don't care about Kate...' in ep1. Whatever the context...that's his fiance he's talking about!!! His agression towards Lulu seemed....uncharacteristic - and the conversation was quite telling. "What's wrong with this one?..." - again so dismissive of Kate! But also suggests that Lulu has somehow interfered with/sabotaged his relationships before.... Lulu did say something like "she's good for you but you're not good for her", but I have no idea if she means that or not! She told Kate that they just hadn't 'found their thing'.....maybe even she thought that telling Kate that she and Anthony aren't compatible wouldn't sound good coming from her! Anthony obviously isn't incapable, but he does seem to like being 'mothered' by Kate.... He does very much feel defined by his relationship with these 2 women...he desperately needs to take control of his own life!
The 'in your face' scene with Lulu was extremely Hal and he (Anthony) was an absolute git to her, perhaps to make his point but methinks he doth protest too much but he and Lulu would be an absolute disaster together. Kate just annoys me, I can understand why but gawd, she needs to unclench a little. If they were truly secure in their relationship then surely she wouldn't feel like she's have to compete to be no.1 in Anthony's eyes but I guess it's just her personality. Lulu has no boundaries or indeed no self awareness nor would it seem that she doesn't really understand the meaning of respect- she's broken confidences twice.
I chuckled all the way through, it was an improvement on last week's episode but the crying sex scene was both cringeworthy and at the same time hilarious.

I think some men like being mothered! My friend's husband is like that. My friend is quite bossy and her husband likes being bossed around! He seems incapable of making a decision without her but he has a professional job. It would drive me crazy but it works for them!
I wonder what Anthony would do if he was left on his own without either Kate or Lulu. Would it be the making of him or would he just end up in a similar situation.
