I was thinking more about them as 'real people' in that situation rather than the potential for dramedy!

I think Anthony must be blind if he couldn't see that his feelings for Lulu were reciprocated!!

Real people are messy though! Lulu did a good job of covering up her feelings for Anthony. We don't know either what the past situation was... she could have been in a relationship..she may only have realised recently which triggered her visit. it felt to me like it had been one sided for a long time.. and that was the status quo.. that in a way she teased him and he just accepted that's how it was. I def feel he didn't believe it and couldn't... that scene where Lulu is honest for the first time is very telling isn't it?

I like messy endings too that to me is more life like. Crashing was such a beautiful contradiction - hilarious yet really poignant /moving, bonkers over the top and one could say 'unreal' but also very 'real' and astute in observations of people and their behaviour. It's a brill portrayal of denial and how people don't or can't deal with their stuff. Sam was the most extreme example of that in denial about his grief and about his sexuality. But Anthony and Lulu too...

Not trying to persuade you Rosie, that's the beauty of this show, different interpretations and reactions!

What are everyone elses thoughts on all of this now the dust has settled?

Real people are messy but if that group of people were my friends I'd want to knock their heads together!

I wonder if Lulu's reaction would have been different if Anthony had said that he'd been in love with Lulu everyday of his life since he was 14?

In a more direct way I mean.

Lulu was in a relationship before she turned up.  In ep 1, when Anthony asked her what she was doing there she told him 'Steven kicked me out'.  (and who could blame him?!!)  So....she knew that Anthony was engaged, but she'd never met Kate before and she chose to go and visit them when her own relationship ended.  She may not have thought that she turned up with the intention of actively splitting them up....but you do have to wonder - maybe a bit of self denial?  And Aunt Gladys obviously knew that Lulu had always fancied Anthony - she said 'Lulu always said you'd end up together'.....so this wasn't a new self discovery on Lulu's part.

Who knows why that hadn't previously got it together - but I didn't think that Anthony's comment 'this is going to be a disaster' was really referring to the fact that he is engaged to Kate....I felt it was more to do with the prospect of him and Lulu getting it together.  I'm not convinced that they would work well together - he obviously enjoys the orderliness that Kate brings his life...and living with Lulu would be chaotic.  And his lack of spontineity would drive Lulu mad..... I can't imagine her having the patience to marinate a curry for 3 days!!  I suspect that they have both previously felt that their friendship was too valuable to risk losing it.....and so neither wanted to be the one to make the first move and take that responsibility.

Gah! I've been so busy lately I haven't been on. But I absolutely LOVED the last episode!! What a great series! I really hope they have a 2nd season! When do you usually find these things out?

I love these characters and I really want to see more of them. So hilarious! I'm sad that it's over (hopefully just for now) It really gave me something to look forward to on Mondays.

Glad Anthony and Lulu finally hooked up. I think they should be together because they are both such a mess! Who knows if a relationship like that could actually last... but this is TV so who cares? LOL

Enjoyed these 6 episodes so much, got better and better every week. Loved it :)

Mondays are certainly a lot less fun without Crashing, aren't they LauraLizzie?! Have you had a go at completing the Crashing Series 1 questionnaire yet?

I had intended to comment earlier in the week on this but illness prevented and now I can't remember which comment you were replying to!  The argument that Lulu didn't know she was in love with Anthony, and that Anthony really had no idea how she felt about him...

Anyway just wanted to say that I totally agree with you.  Lulu may not have intentionally come to sabotage Anthony and Kate, but there's something telling about the fact that her boyfriend kicked her out and she came running to Anthony.  And she certainly took advantage of every opportunity - every single thing he and Kate confided in her, the mistaken lesbian discovery - to turn Anthony away from Kate.

And Anthony asking "what should I do" wasn't him still wondering how she felt about him.  He just really didn't want to make the first move.  As Damien said in that interview, Anthony is a coward.  He doesn't want to jeopardize what he has unless Lulu can give him something equally appealing.
