Marcella's ex-boyfriend, Simon, re-enters her life with some startling news and further surprises arrive in the shape of his new wife, Tania . In an attempt to clear her head, Marcella sets out on a gung-ho camping trip, which sees her battling unsuccessfully with the great outdoors and ends up bringing her closer to her driving instructor, Jon. In the therapy room she reflects on some of the worst decisions she's made while inebriated.

I gave this episode 5 stars and enjoyed it more than the first - not just because of more Damien!
So many laugh out loud lines!
Marcella's camping trip - so funny and heartbreaking, already invested in her as a character. The scenes between Marcella and Jon are magnetising, if we were hoping for those awkward lovely moments we were not disappointed!
The dynamic slowly shifting from beginning to end of the episode...
That first scene with them! Marcella enjoying flirting with Jon and making him flustered both professionally and personally, that last scene with them!
that last scene with them! the moment John said "why not?" With that smile.. Things changed, Marcella's turn to feel flustered !
Brilliantly written and cast, incredible quality writing... no easy thing to mix extreme comedy and moving heartache in the same line. cannot wait for more!
loving the style of GameFace too...Not sure of the technical telly term, but I love love love the little intros and outros, at the beginning of the episodes and going in / out of ad breaks where the GAMEFACE title is placed in whatever scene is in the shot - on the car for example. coupled with the soundtrack, its very cool and adds another level of individuality to the show, and makes it a really cared for quality production. the sets and Marcellas costumes are scrumpy too kudos to the whole creative and production team!
I gave this episode 5 stars. Not just because of more DaMo but also because it's settling into place better now and Marcel la doesn't seem as extreme. I must admit I enjoyed the camping, reminded me of the times I was forced into it. Let me see -
a) chased by wasps when out collecting wood for the camp fire b) the sheep getting out from the next field and trampling our tents in the middle of the night c) when there was an unexpected hard frost overnight that froze everything, even the gas cannisters and wood for the fire. d) rain so bad the campsite was literally flooded out Not to mention the usual being picked up by horses because they could smell the apple in the backpack or getting lost in sudden mist or having cadets collapse in the heat while doing D of E. Then there was the usual kind of thing - tents big blown away in gales, setting up and striking camp in the pouring rain. We once bought a new tent in a sale, it was a bargain - one of those ones with flexible poles that let you put the tent up in about three minutes. It was great except for one thing - the colour (white) must have been in the spectrum that appealed to flies, because the tent would be covered with them, not a scrap of fabric to be seen. The noise was awful.
This was when I was with the Girl Guides and the ATC (as an adult, I must add).
There was nothing that could have happened when she was camping that I would have found extreme! In fact, she merely got lost - amateur!
I love the scenes between Jon and Marcella, there is chemistry and they are good together.
I also think it is on at the perfect time - after the new Big Bang Theory. Next week it's on later, after new Two Broke Girls, but still a good slot.
For some reason autocorrect doesn't like the word Marcella, keeps turning it into Marcel la. I'm sure by the end of the series it will have got it right!
I came close to giving 5 stars but went with 4. I think I need more time to really get into the characters, but they are growing on me quickly. I would have given 4.5 if an available option. I'm glad Marecella stood up to drunk What's-His-Nuts (can't remember his name) and told him to take a hike. Good for her!
And...Damien!!!!!!!!

Lol! it has been a while since I've seen that emoticon used on the forum Jane, but perfectly said!
Jon is definitely coming across as a lovely guy, it's so funny and lovely watching him trying to maintain his professionalism around Marcella! So far his character is in direct contrast to Simon, and as we get to know them more, appears to be someone who could be a good, solid influence in Marcella's chaotic life.
I So want Jon to be the 'good guy' through and through! BUT IS HE? Can't help but wonder if that will turn out to be the case! Plus it'd be more fun if it's not that straightforward.....

What is John doing here? You would think he would be singing or humming along to music, but I don't hear any music. Is it just music in his head or is he doing something else?

Excellent screencaps domino! Not really sure I've got much more to add - they pretty much say it all I love the way the dynamic between Marcella and Jon flipped from the start of the ep to the end.
Jane - I'm not sure what he's doing! i guess it's just some sort of expression of impatience

nicely gif'd Random Jane! :high five:
yeah, like fifi I thought it was his trying to wait patiently face, a bit like that thing people do when trying to contain irritation by tapping fingers or something, let's face it, he does a lot of waiting !

These bits I mean. Genius and I them!
I also noticed it and I liked it well. And I immediately had to think of an American series in which something similar was made. I've been thinking about it all the time. But now I remember. It was "Fringe".
