You have won the King Lear programme signed by Damien and the entire cast!
About the prize draw
A numbered 'ticket' was allocated to every entry of £2.50, which created a list from 1 to 145. These were handwritten (please excuse my terrible writing!). The winner was chosen at random using a random number generator. Excluded from the draw were my own donations and anyone who requested not to be included.
THANK YOU!
HUGE THANKS again to all who donated, supported and made a wonderful contribution to Age UK
So proud of the Molonian fandom!
And a massive thanks to Damien, who once again made it possible for us to raise money for a very worthy charity!
Wow, thank you! I'm not a "winner" in prize draws so really didn't expect anything when donating to AgeUK for this. Thanks again to Domino for arranging and to Damien and cast for taking the time out to create this! Happy that such a great amount is going to a really worthwhile charity, too.
Congratulations again Maghat, your prize is now on its way to you by special delivery and will be with you for Christmas!
Again, THANK YOU to EVERYONE who donated! GREAT work and well done to all! I am sorry you couldn't all win, but hopefully you can feel warm inside knowing you made a difference this Christmas and supported a great charity - and Damien too!
I will find a few quiet moments over Christmas to enjoy it properly!
Thanks again Domino for doing such an excellent job organising the draw and big round of applause to everyone for donating such a great amount for Age UK.
I have to report that just now. After the charity campaign last year, I told you that I also suggested a similar project in our company. We collect small sums of money all year round and since there are so many colleagues it's worth it. My suggestion has been taken into account and gets 2000 Euro. I am very happy about it. Because even in my neighborhood help is needed.
And that is the mission of the association:
The main aim is to ensure that all those in need of help and care, with and without dementia, can live independently in their home environment for as long as possible.
For this it is indispensable that an advice, help or care needs be recognized early so that a timely intervention can take place.
Through different support measures, a high quality of life for the person affected, the family and the social environment can be achieved.
Our other mission and desire is that people with dementia and their loved ones in our society are accepted and feel comfortable.
Early recognition of a dementing disease is only possible in the largest possible outpatient team. Relatives, doctors and their staff, health professionals, care, social services, and committed and educated citizens must work in close collaboration. Thus, risks and first signs of a need for help or dementia can be recognized in good time.
For this reason, a district concept was developed by PRO DEM e.V., implemented with the municipalities of Weyhe and Stuhr and thus the volunteer "contact persons of the neighborhood". involved as an "early warning system over the garden fence".
Through this interaction, the aim is to minimize the stigma of the disease and to emphasize the real opportunities to improve the quality of life of those affected.
And since that worked out so well, I'll submit again for next year, a proposal that is about help for the homeless in my city.
Wow Sana, well done! this is wonderful! and if our fundraiser last year played any part in inspiring your workplace project and raising awareness of dementia in your country I'm truly glad. It sounds like you and your colleagues are making a big impact. I'm very moved reading your account, thank you for sharing.
really happy to hear that our 2018 fundraiser is inspiring you again - do come and tell us about your homelessness proposal, good luck!
Sana, that is wonderful, you are helping so many.
My mother had Alzheimer's and it destroys people,it's a truly horrible disease. The hard part is getting the person who has it that they need help.
Homelessness is getting to be so common here; I was shopping today and bought a man a hot sandwich and a cup of coffee; I felt so guilty that I couldn't do more. We don't know how fortunate we are or how easy it is to become homeless, so that is another worthy project.
