I'm really glad someone has finally noticed that Ellie - posted it nearly 1 month ago!
Initial press/ media reports stated GameFace Series 2 begins filming in February, (next month!) but it's obvs more reliable from Roisin herself.
For those who missed it: filming begins on Brexit day (29 March) and possibly an Autumn premiere!
Without wishing to begin a political discussion (not on this forum!) I kind of hope there's a comedy nod to Brexit in GameFace 2, like the dystopian world where Trump is King and there is no cheese in series 1!
And, to finally have confirmation that Damien is returning!
ICYMI: Filming was originally meant to be February, but in a recent podcast interview Roisin C said it began on Brexit day (in the uk this is 29 March)
Great news too that it will air this year, quite a quick turnaround!
Brassic and GameFace might end up airing quite close together then (if the autumn Brassic air date mentioned today is correct)
Oooh.. so Dustin Demri-Burns is definitely returning for GameFace series 2!
In 2019, Dustin will reprise his role regular role of Simon in Roisin Conaty’s seven part series, GAMEFACE, the first series of which aired on E4 / Hulu in 2017 and received rave reviews. (via United Agents)
Does this mean it is not truly over for Marcella and Simon? What does this mean for Marcella and Jon? AND WHEN WE WILL KNOW FOR SURE DAMIEN IS BACK?!!
Yes, my thought too - they know how to spell his name! Well, they've been fans of his since "Being Human", I think - I'm sure I read reviews yonks ago.
Fingers crossed, looks like Damien is back 😀
You're right Ellie, Den of Geek did do lots of Being Human reviews and Ripper Street too, if I recall. It is certainly looking more certain that Damien will be back as Jon in GameFace 2 - we have had Roisin's headshot tweet from ages ago.. then these two more recent mentions. But until I see the official channel 4 press release or a confirmation tweet from Roisin C herself, or from Damien, I won't be able to fully get excited about it. slightly cautiously optimistic though! (mini squeeeee!)
Roisin C must have finished writing her latest GameFace masterpiece by now and I often wonder about the writing process for her. It must be a fully full on intense and stressful time, with huge dollops of excitement too especially when she's finished. I mean I used to almost have a break down with essay deadlines or dissertations! Imagine an entire series of a TV show...your own tv show, your baby...and for a mainstream channel! I love how she writes it all and stars in the show too. She's just mega.
Totally off topic, but I really enjoyed listening to Roisin Conaty in BBC Radio 4 drama Get Carter: Nights at the Circus, novel by Angela Carter adapted by Lucy Catherine, last night! Also off topic, Roisin was meant to be on The Last Leg on Friday (non uk peeps this is a live comedy tv chat show), I was most gutted she was bumped for some politician
I speculated before about Roisin including Brexit in 'GameFace', as it begins filming on 'Brexit 'Day' here in the uk. So, I was thinking how hard it must be to incorporate political themes into TV series, as things are changing all the time and it may not be relevant or current when it airs. Not that it would be included in a big or literal way anyway because it is a comedy - but loved the Trump 'flash forward' in series 1. I've listened to a few podcasts with Roisin who is totally savvy on current affairs and feminism, so it must be hard writing a sitcom knowing whether to allude / include any kind of agenda whatsoever (agenda is too strong a word. Not sure I am getting what I mean across very well.) I guess, for me, art, tv, whatever is hugely influential. Comedy is a format where you can raise awareness without getting heavy or preachy. I am curious about that and the writing process, if it is difficult to exclude or a relief.. GameFace 1 was so brilliantly written and steered clear of politics and any issues really.. apart from personal ones...which I actually liked. But I also liked that Trump flash forward. Anyway i am rambling so shall stop thinking out aloud as I have no conclusion, just curiosity. If ever the fans had a chance to do a q and a with Roisin I'd love to ask her about this! (If I can formulate what I mean in one sentence - lol! )
At one time there used to be quite a few satire shows on tv that poked fun at all political parties - 'Spitting Image' used to be fantastic, but the recent ones not so much. 'TW3' was just watch. Unfortunately that's not so much the case now, there's quite a lot of bias - the Radio is better that the tv for poking fun at them all indiscriminately.
I'm sure Roisin would manage thinks well, though - her Trump episode was hilarious.

I'm sure Roisin would manage thinks well, though - her Trump episode was hilarious.
I agree Ellie, it's a minefield bringing any agenda to a comedy drama really, especially one that has mass appeal like GameFace (international appeal at that), but Roisin's writing is so brilliant that it would be done with a light but meaningful touch!
I'm crossing everything too Ellie and RJ we need to get our Sherlock on and spot any clues about the return of Jon the driving instructor! WE NEED TO KNOW NOW!
After being pretty sure for a while of Damien's return, I've now begun to run scenarios where he might not be - the ending of series 1 always seemed like a sure thing for continuation of Joncella, but it could also be a kind of ending too? (noooo!). Plus the story picks up, what, 2 years later? ANYTHING could have happened! We know that Dustin DB is back in it - as long as Marcella is not back with Simon!!!
Also, just realised filming begun earlier than 'Brexit day' (which is a variable anyway! Postponed now I think!)
Roisin is looking fab as Marcella! I did a double take on this - at first thought that was Damien on the monitor but it's Dylan Edwards (Billy, Marcella's bro)!
We need a Damien pic! Someone to put us out of our misery asap!
(I'm getting sadder and sadder about the thought he is not in it... and would rather know sooner than later! )
