Brilliant to see all these behind-the-scenes and location shots already. It looks like they are all having a great time! Michelle Keegan's character's style of dress in these pics reminds me a bit of Alex in Being Human.
Love the behind the scenes stuff. Thank goodness Michelle Keegan is so popular, she's generated loads of articles - although some are spelling Damien's name wrongly - Malony!
Love her clothes, though!
Ha ha! I know what you mean Sana! I'm so conflicted, the journalism around the filming photos has been questionable and frustrating, but as you say without them there would be no photos These latest ones were apparently in a caravan park, intrigued about the storylines we are going to get in Brassic!
It's the first time Damien has really appeared in the tabloids in such trashy stories - not about him or his personal life but Michelle Keegan. Urgh! I feel totally hypocritical sharing them and pulled in 2 directions! Love Love Love to see the photos of our fave actor filming!! But hate hate hate the crap context they are in!
Michelle Keegan is very savvy about getting publicity, not only for whatever project she's doing but also for her fashion range. She does very well - rarely out of work, highly paid, in spite of being an average actress. She has generated more publicity for Brassic than Sky has! The downside is that Brassic may well turn into all about her, with Joe Gilgun being shoved into second place and Damien merely a mention in a subtext to Michelle's character.
Damien actually needs be more publicity aware - he doesn't have to mention his personal life but people watch programmes with those whose names they know, and some of the comments have made it obvious that Damien is relatively unknown to an awful lot of people.
There is a happy place with publicity that doesnt involve speculation about someone's personal life.
I just look at the pictures and don't read the blurb!
Michelle Keegan has been high profile since her role in Coronation Street and more recently Our Girl. Soaps seem to gain their own brand of 'celebrity' publicity, but I would agree she is savvy and self promoting in that same way. Does she wants some of the tabloid pulp that comes her way though? We can't know.
Damien is an intelligent man and has a business degree, I would imagine he’s fully 'publicity aware', capable of determining what kind of publicity he wants and to what level. He has his own PR team. At this point in his career his publicity has been all related to his projects, I think if I was an actor that’s the level of publicity I’d choose too, and wouldn’t want that to flip over into the “celebrity” sphere.
Personally as a fan of Damien and someone running a fan site I’m quite glad he’s not splattered across the tabloids. Hence my previous 'conflicted' comment, it’s nice to see filming photos, but I personally can't embrace the context.
Having said that, it is frustrating when official promotion of Damien and his character / role in his projects is lacking. That’s where I feel the publicity wheels should spin a little faster sometimes! But Damien himself has social media twitter and Instagram and chooses what level he personally wants to self promote. I feel he is fully aware of what he is doing and not doing.
There has been a fair amount of Joe Gilgun press around Brassic and there will be more, especially as he’s co creator and the mental health issues are relevant to his life. I’m really happy that Damien will become an even more well known actor working alongside 2 such great actors as Michelle and Joe!
Was it Oscar Wilde who said the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about?!
I think a lot of actors just want to act and publicity is a necessary evil. There's always a lot of conflict where Damien is involved - we all want his incredible talent to be more widely known but we also want to keep him as 'our' Damien!
There always seem to be some actors who are particularly splashed all over the tabloids especially if they also have famous partners but there are others who seem to go under the tabloid radar completely unscathed but still manage to have successful careers.
There is another rather sad and scary part of fame.
A certain type of fan, these are more fanatical than normal fans. Benedict Cumberbatch has a certain group of fan that claim his marriage is fake, his children are fake. That his "wife" is holding him hostage and forcing him to carry one of those reborn dolls and pretending it's a real child.
I really don't need to see photos of Damien with his famly. He should be allowed to keep that part of his life seperate. I just need him to make load of brilliant TV, film etc.

My feelings on this subject are quite well known in these here parts - not just Damien but anyone - private lives should be just that, private. Only if they choose to invite people into that part of their lives, only they themselves have the right to make anything public. We have forum rules in place to protect DMF /Damien from any of that. Fortunately, the Damien fandom is a respectful and lovely one!
I don't agree that certain kinds of publicity is a necessary evil, and for me it is not about Damien being 'our Damien' - the more people who discover his talent the better! I love to see as much promotional material around his work as possible, it's completely non invasive and can only promote him as an actor and the projects he is involved in. But I am very anti the whole ideology that certain kinds of intrusive publicity is a necessary evil - and avoid it. and refuse to perpetuate it. So glad Damien hasn't suffered that kind of stuff.
I'm quite shocked by what you said about BC fans Dingleleannie, I'm sure it is a small minority, but that is super scary!
It's Obvs I am excited to see Damien and Joe Gilgun on screen together as co-dependent friends Dylan and Vinnie in Brassic, but I also cannot wait to see this pairing, Damien and Michelle Keegan as Dylan and Erin!
