This is great domino! I'm so proud that the forum continues to raise money for charity - and I love that there is always a link between damo's work/the prize and the charity. Thank you so much for all of your hard work to make them happen!
A signed Crashing CD is a pretty cool prize.....but who wouldn't want a Christmas card from Damien!!
Aw, me too, I am proud and grateful that DMF is nearly 7 years old (!) and that Damien allows us to continue supporting his work in this way. But the thing I am most proud of and grateful for is the fundraisers for charity.
Grateful to Damien for his kindness with the prizes, and for collaborating in this way (mean such a lot to me!), and to YOU all, for all your donations, and for being co-fundraisers with us (means such a lot to me too!)
To ALL who have donated so far, thank you for your generous donations, you will make a difference to the lives of homeless young people this Christmas and help support the important work Centrepoint are doing.
Just a little note about why I chose Centrepoint for this year's fundraiser. As mentioned in the fundraiser 'story', there is a bit of a link between the themes of Crashing and the charity - but the young people supported by Centrepoint are actually homeless and facing much, much more difficult and challenging circumstances.
Also, my career path involved working with young people in the same age group, in many settings, who were either in crisis or facing many different life challenges. Even though I graduated in a totally different field, working in this area seemed to be my calling, whether that was because of my own upbringing or something else. Young people are an often misunderstood and alienated group in society, and in the current political climate often overlooked. I worked in youth clubs, schools, colleges, on the streets and more.
In my late 20s early 30s I was struck down with a chronic illness which basically took my life away as I knew it. The hardest thing to let go of was trying to make a difference in the real world. So, now I can at least try to help in this small way, fundraising from my bed is better than doing nothing at all!
I share this not for any personal attention (please no), rather I just wanted to give a little personal insight into my motivation and why this is so important to me.
I am not 'doing Christmas' this year - this is what I am doing.
Thank you all for supporting me to do that and for getting behind another fundraiser.
Thank you for sharing your reasons for choosing Centrepoint for the forum to support this year, domino. And it's wonderful that Damien is supporting the fundraiser too.
Lets keep donating and sharing the details of the fundraiser to friends and family and try and make this one the biggest fundraiser yet.
Thanks Rosie, it seems right to share a little background for the choice of charity.
Must also mention, HRH The Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, is the patron of Centrepoint, following in he footsteps of his mother, the late Diana Princess Of Wales.

In an increasingly commercial world, at an increasinlgy commercial time of year, this is a way to give and make a difference to young people struggling with incredibly difficult circumstances.
You might win a prize or just give and support the cause.
