The Split delves back into the world of a high-flying family of lawyers, where Hannah Stern (Nicola Walker) is busy negotiating complex divorce cases whilst being confronted by difficulties in her own family.
Although Hannah (Nicola Walker) and Nathan’s (Stephen Mangan) marriage seems to be back on track, she hasn't forgive him for his past indiscretions, and is continuing her relationship with Christie (Barry Atsma) in secret.
With pressure mounting on her in her personal life, Hannah (Nicola Walker) meets a new client at work who needs her help - TV presenter Fi Hansen (Donna Air).
While Hannah, Nina (Annabel Scholey) and Christie negotiate the new world order of Noble Hale Defoe, Ruth (Deborah Findlay) comes to terms with a different pace of life, and Zander (Chukwudi Iwuji) introduces an unsettling new colleague to the firm.

Spoiler
The legal drama returns as a death in the family brings everyone back together. While Hanna’s marriage seems to be back on track, she still can’t forgive Nathan for his past indiscretions and has begun an affair with a colleague. Zander returns from America, and introduces an unsettling new addition – and his fiancé – Tyler, who’s looking to ‘streamline’ the team. The firm takes on two high-profile clients – a TV presenter (Donna Air) who wants to check on her prenup and a man with divorce on his bucket list.
So excited for The Split tonight and for Damien's first moments on the screen!
My heart was pounding and I had butterflies in my tummy!
What an introductory scene.. thrilling..Damien held court and the impact Tyler made in that meeting room...
He's definitely going to ruffle feathers...
Loved the opening episode, it seems to be picking up not long after the end of the first series.
There was not enough Damien by any means, but in a show where the Defoes are central and all other characters peripheral, his character definitely made his presence felt.
He's already making friends at the firm...
It looks like Nina and Tyler are going to butt heads, can't wait!
And also --- Being Human reunion! 4 BH alumni in the same episode!
Loved it!
Tyler is definitely going to ruffle feathers.
Nina seems interested but he's engaged - to a man, Zander, no less, joint head of the firm. Nina also seen to be pregnant by her ex.
I'm really interested in how it all pans out. The whole series is available on iPlayer and I'm really, really tempted to binge watch the lot. But I will be strong (at the moment) and wait for the next episode next week. I'm making no promises, mind.
Damien is aging well, he's looking quite distinguished. It should open up more interesting roles for him. I think he looks even better than when he started acting.
Anyone else have slight Albert Flight flashbacks? The newbie to an existing team.. the lack of trust from the outset...Interesting the comments made in the latter part of the episode about Tyler and the lack of information on him!
I can't get that meeting scene where he is introduced out of my head! So much tension and so many layers, not only is Tyler being introduced as a new colleague to the team, but also Damien is being introduced to us the audience as a new member of cast, after the long wait then seeing him suddenly with the established characters was really thrilling! All eyes were on him! Ours and theirs!
Tyler's comment below didn't endear him to the team early on!
"Any new merger is an opportunity to do due diligence. scrutinise practise, look to cut away fat.."
I am loving the tension his arrival has made! So far his approach hasn't been so much "team building" as alienating the team.. can't wait to see how that unfolds.
The Nina / Tyler dynamic is compelling... and he doesn't have tiny feet!
And, I am sympathising with all the sisters in this series so far, Rose and Nina especially. There is humour and love in the sister scenes, but also a lot of pain.. amazing performances. Also thought Donna Air was great as Fi Hansen in this episode and what a piece of work her husband is.. chilling.
Having not seen the first series I was concerned that I wouldn't know what was going on but seem to have picked it up quickly. I don't know why I didn't watch the first series because I'm now hooked! Such an absorbing programme with such interesting characters and storyline.
I love the tension that Tyler created in the first meeting. Everyone is wary of someone new but then suddenly he's going to be looking at streamlining the office and he's Zander's fiancé! Then he was lurking everywhere! There's that thing that always happens when you know you are being watched at work and need to perform at your best then everything goes horribly wrong!
"Meanwhile, the firm’s director, Zander (Chukwudi Iwuji) has returned from a stint at the Chicago offices, bringing with him a management consultant, Tyler (Damien Molony), to “cut away fat”. Sounds ominous, especially as Tyler is also Zander’s new fiance. Still, it’s hard to set dead against the man who played Gameface’s adorable driving instructor."

Yes! Not a recipe for newbie popularity! The looks going around that table in the meeting are priceless! And nobody likes a lurker..
