Exactly this!!! - and it's not even my bedtime!
Having a title makes it more real somehow.....and "Tiger Raid...is releasing through Bankside films in 2015" sounds beautifully definate! It can be years before a film hits the screen so every bit of confirmation that it'll be next year is fantastic.
Thanks for posting the extra info whimsy - so it was originally supposed to be 'starring' Robert Sheehan.....interesting!
....and now we know - mercenaries - "two rogue Black Ops for the US army"!!
Excuse me....I think I need to go and lie down for a bit.....
I have to be up in 5 hours, so just did a quick scan of everything the Google brought up.
So, it sounds like Robert Sheehan had been signed up, but then Damien took over his role.
But it says that character is clean-cut. Ok, I guess he'd be more clean-cut than Brian Gleeson, for sure, despite the semi-beardiness in the pics we've seen of him from that time filming.
Intense, attempted kidnapping... but black comedy??? This part is confusing me.
Ok, you all, discuss. I will be back in my daytime to see developments.

I definitely am. Bad enough 2am, now I'm feeling a bit dizzy from all this excitement. This is almost as good as that time he posted the wetsuit picture...

I have to say I'm liking the idea of a black comedy & the initial casting of Robert Sheehan makes sense to me for it to be this genre. I'm now thinking along the line of In Bruges but set in the desert....

the second article you posted gives us another couple of new bits of info
writer: Mick Donnellan
synopsis: two rogue Black Ops for the US army who decide to take an oil Sheikh’s daughter, played by Sofia Boutella, hostage in Iraq.
But also looks like a couple of things changed since May when that was written:
Casting: Damien instead of Robert Sheahan (seems only fair, Damo did do rehearsed readings for BBC sitcom 'Me and Mrs Jones' but Sheehan starred)
Production Company: Bankside Films instead of Story (or maybe both?)
Filming location: Jordan not Morocco.
It seems we may need to wait and see if it is a "black comedy" or "a thriller; fast paced, tense, exciting and punchy," but the latter seems most likely with the synopsis given.
I love EVERYTHING I read about this! l LOVE that Damien is starring in a feature film! I love the idea that it is tense and action-packed, and I dearly hope there's black comedy too. A film that can pull off that combination should develop a broader following, and we all know that more viewers means more fans for Damien. He's irresistible! I love that he gets to play a dark character again--he does them so well! Here's hoping for at least one scene with a little romance, pretty please?

Domino - "It seems we may need to wait and see if it is a "black comedy" or "a thriller" - does one necessarily preclude the other? Or at least a thriller with some black humour. I've read somewhere that it's a kidnapping attempt that 'goes awry'....
There are also some pics on Mick Donnellan's (the writer) twitter page. https://twitter.com/mickkdonnellan

No I guess not, but the 2 descriptions do not include each other - maybe they are both right. Let's hope so!
When I finally fell asleep in the wee hours this morning I had a dream that Damien tweeted his new show (made up in my dream) was about to start in an hour - as he's wont to do, last minute promo - and that we all just ignored him... like that would ever happen!
Pearl, yes he is good at keeping things hush hush. Understandably cast & crew of shows and films must wait until the powers that be behind the production give them permission. Looking at those articles, and knowing that the name and details were released back in the spring, it is odd that it's all quiet.
domino, the filming conditions look... hot and dusty. ugh, my two dislikes. Can't believe they provided mini water bottles instead of gallons!
This is all so exciting!!!!!! A feature film! Starring! Black Ops, black comedy, intense, punch... I'll take it! And, Irish accent. Yay!!!

I'm glad he's got a starring role in a film but I have zero interest in a war movie if that's what it is. Maybe this will mean more film roles (though honestly I prefer TV to movies).

I agree. When he is on TV we can record it and then watch over and over! This film, of course, might just go to DVD or something like Netflix, in which case we can watch him again over and over (if you want to!)
Jane, I'm not a fan of war movies either. One of my first fears when we heard "war movie" was he would play an American Jarhead. No offense, but I really don't care for the genre. But this sounds altogether different, not a typical war movie. Set in the context of that location and time, but a "dark comedy... kidnapping gone awry". As Becca pointed out, if Robert Sheehan was originally cast for the part, it likely has witty, fast-paced dialog, something Damien excels at. I'm imagining it will be intense in parts, but have the two main actors riffing off each other, and a feisty prisoner that probably makes their life hell! I am hopeful and excited about it. I'm imagining something in the vein of Three Kings, which blended elements of action, drama, and comedy. And thank goodness they are Irish mercenaries!
The Body of an American explored the horrors of war, PTSD, family secrets, working through your demons... I was leary of it at first, but it turned out to have a lot of humor. I don't know for certain, but like Being Human that had some very intense horrors offset by high humor, and Suspects and Ripper Street that have that same duality, it seems Damien is attracted to roles that don't fit the typical stereotypes and projects that include some sort of humor to offset the horrors. That's just my impression though. And those are totally my cup of tea!
