We don’t have a release date for Damien’s upcoming feature Tiger Raid yet, but we do have an early Christmas present, an exclusive behind the scenes photo kindly sent to us by Story film.
The new image of Damien shows him in costume as his character Paddy, complete with the bandit-like blacked-out eyes we first had a glimpse of in the stunning promo photosreleased in February this year.
The film company’s sister site @DixonBaxi tweeted the pic to the forum today to help ‘keep us going’ until the film festival premiere is announced!
The 8 week process of creating the titles involved using “a bold and dynamic blend of live action and design to create a 2m 23s sequence that became an abstracted representation of the mind and thoughts of the main character.”
But that one quote alone is doing a disservice to the fascinating, in-depth account on the creation of the film’s titles, head over to DixonBaxi.com for the full blog entry.
Tiger Raid is directed by Simon Dixon, written by Simon Dixon, Gareth Coulam Evans and Mick Donnellan, produced by Story Films and Samson Films, co-financed by The irish Film Board and Ingenious and international sales are handled by Bankside Films.
Why do pictures of Damien looking down always look so full of emotion and conflict? I'm so excited about Tiger Raid, all these little glimpses are building up the suspense!
And thanks to Dixon Baxi for sharing this gorgeous treat
The imagery we have seen so far is so compelling, the glimpse of the titles and the attention, detail and style makes me gulp with such a deep excitement for the film.. you can just feel it already... wow this is going to blow our minds!
Me too! I feel a nervous energy whenever any Tiger Raid pics and info is shared. From the cinematography, you get the feeling that this story is fueled by conflict and desperation. It makes my belly tighten in anticipation and a bit of dread. I want such a well crafted movie to get full recognition and worldwide release. It needs to be timed for maximum impact. If that involves waiting for the next large film festival, it making a circuit of festivals, before a general release, so be it. But at the same time, I wish they'd put us out of our misery and release it already!

Afreed whimsy. The more we see of the film the more I am excited for and have absolute faith in the promo and release treatment it will receive.
In terms of which film festival - it could be as early as January at Sundance (although it is not currently listed in the programme), or February at EFM (European Film Market, Berlin). Although things are slightly confusing re Berlin, as the Irish Film Board listed Tiger Raid as screening at EFM last year, but it had not even been completed at that point, so maybe it will be at EFM again in 2016?
Cannes comes next in March, The London Screenings June, TIFF September and AFM November.
These are the events Bankside attend, they are handling sales so it would be surprising if it premiered outside these festivals.
