Excellent news. And it's great that it's going to be filmed......although I'm not at all surprised
I saw Kit Harrington at the Duke of York, so it only seems right that I should see Damo there too! It'll certainly be interesting to see how it's adapted for what is a very different space.
that damo will be available....although - as you say domino - if he's not, then we'll have something else to look foward to instead!! Although it's interesting that westendtheate.com have chosen to jump the gun with some names.....

I'm super excited about the filming and really hoping this means a stream or online option, not just a cinema live experience (which is of course still amazing but still not maximum accessibility for all).
Or, if it is a cinema broadcast they could take a leaf out of the 'Unrest' team's book and offer up tickets for virtual online screening at the same time as the cinema broadcast - same cost tickets, wider accessibility.
Yeah.. I'm actually feeling quietly more hopeful after the feature on westendtheatre.com, mainly because of how it is worded - "The cast features Ian McKellen, Sinéad Cusack, Jonathan Bailey, Damien Molony, Dervla Kirwan and Kirsty Bushell. Full casting to be announced shortly." - full casting to be announced shortly implies all of the preceding names have already been confirmed? It would be pretty shoddy journalism if they are just guessing based on the CFT run.
Also, it seems plausable Kirsty Bushell is reprising her role, she is busy in The Cherry Orchard from 1 March but it ends 19 May...
Sir Ian was on the Today programme on Radio 4 this morning to talk about Lear's move to the West End (about 8:30). Sadly, he didn't say anything about other cast members and seemed supremely vague about the possibility of filming.
King Lear again: 100 performances at Duke of York’s in London where I made my West End debut 1964. It’s a small theatre but we shall make it even more intimate by removing half the stalls seats. First performance is 11th July. https://t.co/SRoH1hWxjJpic.twitter.com/pYSJ6pPv7X
£5 Prologue tickets are again available for King Lear!
All you have to do is turn up at the theatre box office on the night of the performance with ID.
BIG news! #Prologue is hitting the West End for the 1st time - £5 tickets for 16-25 yr olds for #KingLear (11 July – 3 Nov). Available to buy in person (bring ID) from @dukeofyorksLDN Box Office first thing on the day of performance. More details to come... https://t.co/HicU0mYfjY
wow, that was fast with the ticket sale. but it is a bit difficult, if not all names are fixed. and the tickets are really expensive. Has anyone bought any?

Head of press at CFT has told me that casting genuinely has not been confirmed yet, so she does not even know. I will of course update here as soon as I hear anything about Damien. For the Chichester run, more tickets were released after the second wave of casting was announced. It would be surprising if the same didn't happen this time at the Duke Of York's. Additionally there will be returns and also the prologue seats for 16 - 25 yr olds.
I have had no definite news, but just to update you all with the latest on Damien's casting for the West End transfer - a week ago publicist peeps kindly let me know that casting should be confirmed in the next couple of weeks, so hopefully we will hear one way or another soon. I will of course be letting everyone know as soon as I hear anything, so watch this space!
We must all keep alert for any announcements in the meantime
I need to keep my eye on this as we will be in London again in late September for our honeymoon, but looks like tickets are highly sought after and we are unlikely to obtain. :/

Still no news on Damien's casting in King Lear, hopefully this week!
How fortuitous Jane, it seems there are still tickets available for later in the run, so you may well be in luck - but I wouldn't leave it too late. However, there may be more tix released later on and returns on the day also.
Just to update, Damien's casting is still not confirmed, however full casting will be announced on or around 18 April. So not long until we will all know one way or another!
Full casting has finally been announced for the 'King Lear' West End transfer.
Sadly, Damien is not reprising his role as Edmund, who will be played by James Corrigan in the Duke Of York's Production. Several other of the roles have also been recast, including Edgar, played in the original by Jonny Bailey but in the transferred production Luke Thompson will appear in the role.
But, let us not be too disheartened Molonians, as this can only mean that Damien will be appearing in something else! (and hopefully we will hear about it soon!)
There will also be an NT Live screening on 27 September, great news for the production, sad news Damien fans that he won't be in it. Those who managed to see the play at Chichester were truly in a lucky position!
I also find it a pity that he does not continue to play Edmund in this production. Especially if there is an NT Live broadcast. He was so great (and of course the whole play) that I hoped that more people would see him. In Chichester, it was a very limited number of people who saw the play.
Didn't I read something that when it was at Chichester there was filming being done. Here's hoping somehow that will appear some day!!! I'm sure I'll be an NTL watcher come December but there will be a bit of disappointment missing Damien in this production.
I agree, Susan and Sana, I was so looking forward to seeing Damien in this. I'll still watch the live stream but it will be missing something important . . .
